I cannot really comment on T3 Equipment or Piping as I've not researched or used it, yet, but I suspect it would not be worth it to run T1 Equipment on T3 Pipes, especially as you need Prospecting Tokens to purchase Corestone (T3) Pipes.
As for the question, there is no real benefit in having T2 or T3 drills on a T1 dirt. In general, the deeper you put your miners - the better. Bigger chunks, more value, more rare ores etc. T1 drills are limited to T1 dirt obv. So you want to upgrade your machines but you also want to put them as deep as possible.
To deter any trolls that gonna say "oh but he could use better pipes with better drills so more water pressure -> more speed -> more T1 crap". Trust me, not worth it.
So whats the disagreement? The question was is it worth to put T2/T3 equipment on a T1 dirt? The shortest answer is - no it isnt. Or you disagree with that?
If you are trying to say that you upgrade your T1 miners on T1 dirt with T2 miners on T1 dirt. Well, its not like you cant do it, you can. But this is imo even dumber because you cant just swap one drill with another. A) they use different types of pipes to work efficiently and B) because the intakes and outputs on the different drills do not match so you will need to reroute your whole pipe network to fit in T2 drills and also swap all the pipes for cloutium/corestone ones. Yea, nobody sane does that for T1 dirt.
Oh. Well technically it will speed up the output, but it wont improve the quality (or size) of materials. Only depth affects the quality (and size) of the chunks. So if you cant go any further, then sure you can upgrade previous tiers if you like.
But otherwise, there is no right or wrong way to play this game. So you do you.
I plan to do the same thing with Icehelm, but more efficiently, since I've already done it once, but now I'll be able to work T3 Dirt and I have plans for that space...
