I mention all this because it's happened to me a long time ago. Have fun.
Edit. just remembered, make sure your'e using the right hammer. One is for locking things down and one is for use at the anvil.
After being in and out of these stores for 40 hours, i had not noticed the construction hammer, and the one thing i was wondering was, was it possible to lock things so i stop picking them up.... thank you, found one, bought and off to try it :D
- Scales
- Blacksmith Hammer
- Construction Hammer
- Message Board
- Smelting Furnace
- Ingots of Iron, Gold, Cloutium, and Corestone
- Gems of Emerald, Sapphire, Onyx, and Diamond
- Anvil
- Optional: 2 x Straight Conveyors with 3 x Straight Pipes connected to Water, Logic Valve, Saw Hook, and Numeric Keypad
The Construction Hammer is basically used during setup. Once things are properly set up, it should not be needed. All of this assumes that the Ore is fed into Smelters (Manual or Logic, both give the same results) and is already in Bar form. Make certain the Anvil has been PLACED down, not dropped. I highly recommend LOCKING the Anvil after you place it. Use the Construction Hammer to lock it in place. Left click locks it and right click unlocks it while pointing at the object. This should also be done for the Saw Hook setup, to prevent anything for being accidentally removed.Take the appropriate overweight Ore Bars to the Saw Hook. The Saw Hook needs to be connected to your existing (or separate) Water Supply. The First Straight Pipe should have the Logic Valve on it to allow you to turn it on and off as you wish. The second and third Straight Pipe would have Straight Conveyors installed with the Saw Hook connected to the third segment. The Numeric Keypad would be connected to the Saw Hook and the desired weight of the resultant Bar would be entered into the Numeric Keypad. The properly weighted Ore Bar(s) will come out the back of the Saw Hook, weight should be verified on the Scale, and then the Bar placed in the Furnace to heat. A similar thing should be done with the Gem, but the Gem does not require heating. Take an overweight Gem of the appropriate type to the Saw Hook, enter the required weight into the Numeric Keypad and run the Gem through the Saw Hook.
Go to the Anvil. Point at the Anvil and left-click on it until it displays the appropriate Item that you wish to produce. If a Gem is required, that will go in Slot 3 (there are numbers on each slot). Look at the Scroll to identify which Ore Bar needs to go in Slot 1 or Slots 1 and 2. Pick up a Bar from the Furnace and drop it in the proper slot. The more efficiently you can get this done the better. Once all two or three items are in place on the Anvil, quickly grab the Blacksmith Hammer and hit the Anvil with it. The Gem and Ore Bar(s) will disappear and the constructed object should appear on the Anvil. The ring is small but should be visible...
Let us know if you have any questions. I can post screenshots of the process if necessary...
now imagine me, spent about 20 hours digging this nice new claim at south hope, got the basement really nice, moved everything from ember cradle down into the basement, planned out the water system, setup all the splitters, everything setup nice.
Put the T2 drills on the floor (not thinking), and turned on the water.... nowt comith out, d'oh.
10 minutes of head scratching later, realise the drills are T2 and i'm at the T3 level, ahhhhh, oopppsssss.
Digs hole in my beautifully flat ceiling, rams both drills up into the T2 dirt, pipe up, add deflector wall to guide dropping dirt onto the conveyor below....
Big smiles, sure as hell looks ugly mind, but now i have corestone coming in, onward to making T3 drills at Icehelm.... charge!!!!!!!
I suffered the same frustration. I tried to craft a ring, jewelry, etc...and it was only when I turned to YouTube and saw someone making it that, as others reported, you have to heat the element first and then put it on the anvil. It makes sense, but, yeah, I don't think it's made clear enough in the game.
