I'm guessing you adapted that from pulling gems from compactors ?
I stop my mining setup and manually smelt ingots or pullout gems, I've usually got one of each in a pan in front to grab when i feel like making something for a crown scroll quest.
The farm is now auto watering 1,250 plots, one line of 50 every 2 seconds and repeats every 4 minutes, the mine and farm now mostly run themselves (not gonna bother with sprinklers).
Now i have the combine harvester, its got a parking spot with veg offload, chopping and sorting setup, just grab what i need, head into the cook house, set how many seeds i want to make and the seed bench cuts and makes them for me.
My biggest issue is random clogs on conveyor belts, but then a quick ESC and clean up fixes it, with a gold ingot worth 150mil alone, don't think i need much for cash, every shop has 1mil in their pots so i don't even have to take money with me now, lol.
But ye, a few achievements yet to go, polish gems (ye ye, automated early), the boooiinnggg one, 10k farm tokens, cave secrete and top fishing rod (think that's all left), then it will be off to the volcano, lol. All fun :)
Not a challenge i am aware of, but shouldn't be to hard to solve really if each fish type is a different time, something for the future maybe once i've been to the volcano.
It's been a few years so I don't exactly remember word for word what Max said and don't want to paraphrase either, but it sparked a competition to make the best auto fishing contraption. Which I hate to say, didn't have a satisfying end for me personally. Hybridsteel quickly came up with a simplistic design that every other variety youtuber that stumbles back into this game blatantly copied. Some gave credit, most didn't. And since then, every autofishery has just been a copy of those copies that can't even make enough profits to pay for the building pieces involved.
Challenge failed imo. Not that it could be successfully completed in the first place. It was rigged. Fishing just isn't profitable enough to break even on the investment much less "exceed" mining. Which was what the challenge was... to build a fishing contraption that outpaced a mining operation of a similar scale. Laughable premise and doomed from the start, but there were actually quite a few genius and sometimes janky things being toyed with outside the limelight of youtube. However, once the youtube videos rolled in, most people working on bigger brain solutions just lost motivation.
Even with all the bells and whistles, it will never complete the challenge. But I would at least be impressed by something new instead of seeing copies of the copies.
Fun robo lore here: this silly competition is what motivated me to learn this games logic system. Not to participate, but seeing guys like Kryptonite, Awlcer, Pete, etc come up with these insane cable monsters gave me a push. And I didn't break down the cooking timers until much much later when Steef was toying with a speedrun. Which is also why boot cooking was patched out XD
Anyways, there's potential there to make an absolute abomination. Just not expecting to ever see it unless I do it myself and likely never going to.
Wow, i had no idea all this had gone on before, if you hadn't guessed, I've not really watched YouTube videos, other than Joshs (lets game it out) destroying his fps, so all the above is news to me, only looked at a few Steam guides because i prefer to read than keep watching the same few frames over and over.
Alas a mining setup will easily out pace an auto fishing setup, my 10 * T3 drills (reduced from 20), shove out 1,500 nuggies a minute, my South Hope operation since it started has now output over 5 million nuggies, yes i put counters on from the start, lol.
While my auto fisherman worked nicely, it was hampered by the rank 2 fishing traps, only found that out thanks to the fishing guide in the Steam Guides. Which of course meant, to get the Master Fishing Rod, i'd have to do the work myself, and got sooooo BORED doing it.
I did however extend the conveyor belts into the sea so i could stand in the water and when i pulled in a fish, it dropped on the belt and went through the filter setup, saving me having to drop the rod, pick it up etc. Getting the right weight shark was a painful and sleep inducing event.
For now i think i'll be travelling onto the Volcano and fishing can take a back seat, a few fish brought in some loose change but a Sword or Necklace easily made millions, but i guess the real comparison should be ingots vs cooked fish... weight for weight as well.
Unfortunately the internet is 70% copy paste, one persons idea is another persons means to profit without doing the hard graft, so if your willing to share online, be ready to have it replicated, lol.
Thank you for the great explainer, appreciate all the efforts of the past masters in games making guides and helping us noobs on our travels, oh and happy new year :)
