It crashed twice when I picked up gems after compressing them together.
and its crashed after grinding/refining multiple gems in a row
The crashing stopped for a while once I got rid of my old build (semi-automatic, required me using the magnet often to pick up and distribute a large amount of material). After using a conveyor based model the lack of chunks everywhere seems to help a bit. But it's still a big issue.
I assume I need a higher cpu to keep rendering that amount of assets and calculating their collisions at once? Since collision is turned off when an object is on a conveyor or in a bucket (mostly) it reduces the rate of crashing (though messing with buckets/pans with a lot of items in them still causes crashes). It's something that definitely needs to be worked on.
It's not your cpu, memory, graphics card or anything else on your end... It's a bug. I've seen multiple streamers deal with the issue as well as experienced it myself. I have 9 drills and a conveyor system built and it crashes repeatedly over and over when I'm cleaning up the resources that get dropped from the system or clog up in the conveyance.
It appears to be that for whatever reason the game can't deal with all the entities (lots of ores). May have something to do with the collisions of those entities as well, but either way it's broken. My resource monitor shows the 3 or 4 threads the game uses at 100% (19% total CPU on my system), disk usage goes up to about 11%, memory is mostly free, and while it's crashing the GPU is hardly being used because of the low framerate before the crash.
It's a fun game, but nearly unplayable on the current version once you've got some decent automation going. Hopefully the dev can resolve the issue.
For the latter, you need to update the Graphics Drivers. If you have a branded computer, you'll want to upgrade to the GPU Manufacturer Drivers, as they will always be at the same version, or, more likely, newer than the OEM Drivers provided by your Computer Manufacturer. For an nVidia GPU, go to nVidia's Web Site and download the most recent drivers for your GPU. For a Radeon, that's an AMD device.
Once you've downloaded the most recent appropriate Driver, perform the following steps:
- Hit the Windows key on your keyboard and start typing "Add".
- You should see an option for "Add or remove programs". Select that.
- Scroll through the list of programs looking for a Graphical Driver program, probably provided by your Computer Manufacturer.
- Remove the GPU Drivers and *REBOOT*
- After the Reboot, install the newly download drivers from the GPU Manufacturer's Web Site.
- Once that's completed, *REBOOT*
- After the reboot, try running Hydroneer.
If that doesn't work, please let us know if you have any errors that pop up. Also please provide your System Specs...
