Hopper/Funnel
I can't be the only one to notice the fact that due to the spacing between the ice melter and the funnel. the ice always ends up beside the melter and not in the melter no matter how many funnels you use stacked on top of one another.

I've tried walling the whole thing off,
making a round hole,
making a square chimney.

nothing works.

I don't use a funnel and have no problems with ice going in. Might try it without.

Can you make a Screenshot pls?

I just use a vertical belt and it goes right in. If you need better pics just ask. but these show the basic of it. I have two different setups, but both use one vertical belt.

The only variation I do on this configuration is to place a Sorter in front of the Vertical (that's the "landing spot for things coming out of the Miner). My Miners are a Grid Square or two below surface (it was part of a bad plan that I tossed aside before I got TOO far into the implementation), so I get Ice Rocks as well as Snow. I use the Sorter to split off the Ice Rocks but send my Snow to the Ice Melter (the Ice Melter just causes the Ice Rocks to bounce in the air and eventually clogs the Ice Melter input). The Ice Rocks get sent to the Harvester...

Yes, this is how my first setup is. My second one I put my water supply on surface so I wouldn't have to sort.

I've tried and the same issue arrizes, it's why I came here to ask if I was doing something wrong. sometimes the pieces just stay stuck on the rim of the melter

Ok, well that is not supposed to happen. LOL. I know there used to be a bug with gems and doing the same. I haven't read anyone having trouble with the melter. Have you verified files and all that, drivers all up to date?? Is this an intermittent thing or constant? Did you preload your melter with some ice so you have adequate pressure??

Yeah, I'd check the water pressure. Water Pressure would affect the performance of the Conveyors and too low a water pressure (or just barely enough) may affect it to the point that the objects travelling on it will sometimes barely have enough momentum. A Pressure Tank with a Shard Bar may be needed nearby to improve said Water Pressure, even if not far from the supply, because there's no way to boost to "extreme levels" on Volcalidus, like one can do on Bastion by going with Corestone Pipes and Pressure Boosters on the Intake Pipe...

Once one gets past the initial 3 Miners (basically once you have enough Ore to head to the top of the Volcano), I generally do NOT recommend Mining into Pans. It runs a MASSIVE risk of too many Raw Ore/Gem Nuggets in a Pan. While that may not affect you while Mining, if you then go to pour them into a Crucible, you are almost guaranteed a FPS Crash while the physics calcs suddenly go active on all those Nuggets inside the Pan as it gets poured out. I DEFINITELY recommend sorting into Smelters and Gem Compressors to keep the Object/Item count as low as possible. Liquid Ore does not have all the calculations that Nuggets do and can easily be poured out into a single Bar...

The point here was more to show the devs an issue with the design of their new item. functionally I found many workarounds. but thankyou for your suggestion

It's very constant. and the melter is loaded this has to do with how the ice tumbles it likes to throw itself places.

Dang then I'm out of ideas. Sorry. Might have to report as a bug and have it looked into.

Hmm, are you getting Ice Rocks, which the Ice Melter cannot process?!? If your Miners are at all below the surface level, you may be getting Ice Rocks. You'd know because they will not go in and will instead bounce around above it. They can then impede Snow getting in and create a clog.

If you do find you're getting Ice Rocks, use a Sorter to send them away from the Ice Melter. I actually have a Conveyor run that takes those Ice Rocks and brings them all the way back to the Harvester and dumps them in there. That gives me extra resources that end up in my Smelters and Gem Compressors...

What I did is basically place a drill on the very surface, so the chance for ice rocks is minimal, and dropped it down with a hole and placed a funnel right above the Melter too.
Also, to stop the ice falling next to the Melter I used those 1x1 square ramp thingies you can buy at the Shattered Outpost around the funnel.
I hope that might help! :Neko:
