Each one offers different sizes and challenges depending on where the lava is at. But they all go to T3 except the starting area.

wait what? so the startclaim can't go into the t3 layer?

No, it is not that deep. You will not get cloutium or corestone at the starter claim with drills.

hmm okay and in volcanidus, is there a particular claim you would recommend?

Starter Claims, which are free, only go about 5 Grid Squares below the surface. T1 Dirt/Ice/Snow extends down to 8 Grid Squares, where T2 Dirt/Ice/Snow picks up... All other sites have the same depth, but the physical size (length and width) and shape change, along with the terrain at the bottom level. I believe the largest Mineable Claim on Volcalidus is Lumberton Bluff, with Lava in a curve around the outer edge. This Claim is a flat surface on the bottom, that overlooks the Lumberton Harbor (Volcalidus arrival Town). It's fairly well centered to resources, having Lava Pipes and initial startup supplies in the Shop in Lumberton Harbor. There's also fairly easy access to the Volcano peak, where additional Drills, Harvesters, and Heavy Lava Drills/Harvesters can be produced (equivalent to The Big Forge in Icehelm back on Bastion Island). There's continued easy access to Shattered Outpost, where Water Pipes and Conveyors can be found, along with materials for constructing buildings (and Ramps). Shattered Outpost also has the location where the Frost Marks can be melted to get the Buff Stones for constructing equipment on the Volcano Peak.

and..what claim is the best in the NORMAL area of the game?
Klandor May 20, 2024 @ 8:26am
Define NORMAL...

Normal, on Volcalidus Island, is very different from Bastion Island, although there are similarities.

The starting Claim is Dawn Rest, located at the base of the trail up to the Volcano. This is Tier 1 ONLY, and only 5 Grid Squares deep. All other Claims go down to Tier 3.

Then there's Cinder Crossing, located to the east, down the road from Dawn Rest. This one is a decent size, with Lava easily accessible from the surface.

Further east is Shattered Chamber (I think that's the name), which is adjoining Shattered Outpost. Other than visiting it, I haven't worked the Claim. It also has surface accessible Lava.

Along the road from Dawn Rest before getting to Cider Crossing, there's a road that heads back north. This will lead to the ramp that goes up to Lumberton Bluff. This is a fairly large Claim with surface Lava.

On the West side of the map, we have Waterside and Scoria Chamber. Waterside is a fairly small Claim. It does not appear to have any surface Lava and is a fair distance to any available surface Lava. I have not worked the Site, but I would hope there's underground Lava.

Similarly, Scoria Chamber is to the far West and probably has underground Lava. Also not the largest Claim...

If you need any clarification beyond this, please be detailed in your questions...

no no, by normal I mean the normal NON-DLC area of the game :P
so what you have now called Bastion Island :)

the best claim on volcanidus you had say it can be the lumberton bluff

On Volcalidus, I believe Lumberton Bluff has the largest surface area, and the bottom of it appears to be FLAT.

On Bastion Island, the largest Claim Sites would be either South Hope or Dreck Quarry....

okay thanks :)
i have read..about the claim in the frost area in bastion. but i dont know how good this is or how this named xd

Its also a matter of the veins you can find too, those help a lot if you need more of a rare ore, just have to find them, so unlocking other claims is a must.

And having a decent number of sites for the more creative players allows for some crazy builds, some people love to show off sometimes.
