Anyone got the same problem?

Hey!

Could you elaborate more on your issue please?

How often do the lag spikes occur?
How long do the lag spikes last?
Are you doing a certain action / have a big mining setup?
What are your computer specs?
And, are you playing on a Desktop PC or a Laptop?

If it's only a second every 5 minutes, it'll be autosave as that happens every 5 minutes unless turned off.

Cheers,
Itchy,
CM.

So it’s a auto save

Thanks for information!

Hey, I'm not sure that's related to anything here in this thread. Could you elaborate please?

I have a similar issue, where the game doesn't seem to utilize all of my GPU constantly. Usually stuck around 20 to 50%..

Apologies for necro-ing this old thread, however after last patch I am getting a HUGE lag spike while it auto saves. Not all the time, mainly the first auto save of the day and random ones in between. Nothing going on, on the PC. It is a gaming rig, win 11, ryzen 9, RTX 3080 ti, 64gigs ram. The lag almost lasts 30 seconds. Hope this helps.

In the future, probably better to start a new Discussion...

As to why it may be "random", if you're doing Mining, and have a large Mine, the amount of Dirt Clumps and Raw Ore/Gems will vary a little bit. If there's a large amount of that falling off the edge of a Conveyor, it uses lots of physics, which is a direct hit to the Graphics Card.

I get the exact same issue described by Soulless. I get massive lag spikes when the game autosaves. At the moment I have 4 tier 1 miners underground at Mildews aquifier, so I would hardly expect any lag spikes, let alone having to wait a good 20 seconds when the game autosaves.
I also have a somewhat similar set up. Win 11, 12th Gen i5, RTX 3070ti. 16GB Ram.
Zerschmetterling Jan 6, 2023 @ 12:24am
Every few minutes, the game freezes between 5 to 10 seconds. Number of dirt chunks on my conveyors doesn't seem to have any influence on the duration of the freeze.
It happens no matter if my mining rig is active or shut of.
I was digging out Ember Cradle yesterday with my mining setup in Icehelm disabled and the conveyors emptied of dirt.
In unregular intervals, the game just takes a timeout.

Some quick questions for both of you, @Itchy Flea and @Zerschmetterling. Do you keep your Raw Ore or do you get it into a Smelter? Similarly on the Gems. Do you just dump them into a bucket or do you send them to a Gem Compressor to keep the Gem count down?
Zerschmetterling Jan 6, 2023 @ 2:00pm
All my ores and gem fall in a smelter/gem-compressor right of the conveyor.
But i noticed the freezes happen if i dig out dirt by hand with a pickaxe or if i'm driving a vehicle around. Standing next to my rig and watching it work doesn't freeze the game.
Seems it's not a problem with dirt or ore chunks, but with changes in terrain, either by rendering due to travel, or by directly changing the terrain.
Itchy Flea Jan 6, 2023 @ 3:07pm
Everything goes into smelter or gem-compressor straight off the belts.

I don't need to be doing anything, I just have to wait for the first auto-save, and just as the saving icon appears in the bottom corner, the game freezes. After that first autosave the game is fine, unless I modify the terrain through digging/flattening/etc, then it freezes on autosave, even if I've manually saved the game after changing the terrain.

Were you playing the game before Dec 9th, when v2.1 came out? If so, did you purchase your Gem Compressor before Dec 9th, and are you still using the old Gem Compressor? These are critical questions, as this equipment was majorly affected by the v2.1 Update....
Zerschmetterling Jan 7, 2023 @ 12:42am
I started a brand new game with the new update.
Itchy Flea Jan 7, 2023 @ 12:44am
This particular save was started in late November. I'm fairly sure all the gem compressors were purchased after the 9th of December.
The ones I'm actually using now though were purchased this year.
