Could you elaborate more on your issue please?
How often do the lag spikes occur?
How long do the lag spikes last?
Are you doing a certain action / have a big mining setup?
What are your computer specs?
And, are you playing on a Desktop PC or a Laptop?
If it's only a second every 5 minutes, it'll be autosave as that happens every 5 minutes unless turned off.
Cheers,
Itchy,
CM.
Thanks for information!
Hey, I'm not sure that's related to anything here in this thread. Could you elaborate please?
As to why it may be "random", if you're doing Mining, and have a large Mine, the amount of Dirt Clumps and Raw Ore/Gems will vary a little bit. If there's a large amount of that falling off the edge of a Conveyor, it uses lots of physics, which is a direct hit to the Graphics Card.
I also have a somewhat similar set up. Win 11, 12th Gen i5, RTX 3070ti. 16GB Ram.
It happens no matter if my mining rig is active or shut of.
I was digging out Ember Cradle yesterday with my mining setup in Icehelm disabled and the conveyors emptied of dirt.
In unregular intervals, the game just takes a timeout.
But i noticed the freezes happen if i dig out dirt by hand with a pickaxe or if i'm driving a vehicle around. Standing next to my rig and watching it work doesn't freeze the game.
Seems it's not a problem with dirt or ore chunks, but with changes in terrain, either by rendering due to travel, or by directly changing the terrain.
I don't need to be doing anything, I just have to wait for the first auto-save, and just as the saving icon appears in the bottom corner, the game freezes. After that first autosave the game is fine, unless I modify the terrain through digging/flattening/etc, then it freezes on autosave, even if I've manually saved the game after changing the terrain.
The ones I'm actually using now though were purchased this year.
