as Red Rum Lover said some Antivirus software can block save/loading.
Savegames are located here:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mining\Saved\SaveGames
Backup and restore the files works great. I often take backups before beginning new projects ingame. Hope this will help you.
Started a new save 2 days ago. Bought the largest land plot. Bought and assembled some equipment and logged off for the night. When I logged back in yesterday my entire save was gone and I was starting over. Not a lot of fun to be found when that happens lol.
The savegame files are called HydroSave.sav to HydroSave3.sav. You can search for them after saving on your hard disk. Perhaps they are stored somewhere else in your case - but that doesn't really make sense for me.
Omg thank you so much !! I was able to find the files by searching by name on the whole computer. They were in a hidden folder on my disk C, while the game, and all of my steam stuff is on disk D, where I also had the Hydroneer files, including Mining, and 3 folders inside, but not this one. Pretty confusing habing similar stuff installed in different places. I wish we could specify where to save but at least I will not be losing progress anymore !
Thank you.
i really dont like when games save their savefiles into the %APPDATA% folder... would be better if it saves in the innstalled path...
my main drive is a smaller SSD where windows is installed and all important programs so they always run fine. games and other stuff i save on my larger drive which is an HDD... im probably not the only one with that setting
would be great if the dev would change the savefile path to the installed path instead of %LOCALAPPDATA%
I have a similar setup, with the system on a small disk C ( so I could wipe and replace without losing my data) and data on a big disk D. I always try to make sure nothing is saved on C so I hope the dev will see this case and implement the option to choose the savefile path.
And I have an antivirus with a "system watcher" with a rollback function. Apparently it rolls back any changes it considers a threat. I've never had a problem with it until now (didn't even know about it until the people in this thread pointed it out) I've disabled it for now, but it seems like a useful feature, so I hope this whole thing gets fixed somehow. At least I can back up the saves now so I could turn it back on if I wanted to bother with reuploading my save every time XD
