i feel like i'm doing something wrong but i can't tell what . so far the tomato's i'm growing are only giving one tomato when they fruit. same with the carrots. the first time they where ready to harvest the tomato plant gave 3 tomatoes and the carrot gave two. the seed grinder is also seeming odd as with the plants originally it was giving 2 seeds back for each plant but it's now only giving one.

Is there a penalty for spacing?

not keeping them fully watered?

The plants is RNG and it can suck. My first corn seed took like 3 generations to get enough seeds to actually start meaningful production.

The seed maker is based on weight. So just chucking a veg in without knowing the weight will seem more random than it is. It does round though so beware. It is much easier to use once you have a scale. Even just chopping everything up, stacking it, then halving it with the knife, if needed, can save you lots of time. Once you get a Logic Saw Hook it is trivial to restock your seeds.

Also the Seed Mill takes weight into account too.
So you can potentially get 3 seeds from 1 produce.

thanks i was worried that i was doing something wrong when i was just trying to apply real world logic to a game . RNG never crossed my mind.

water and light so far only determines when a plant can grow, as it only grows when in light and watered.

and a neat trick is you can chop everything you harvest, then use a logic saw to cut the pile into a full number, and then toss the cut pile into the seed machine to get roughly 1 seed per 1 weight. so for example, i only have 20 spots for each plant, so i set the logic saw to 20, and that pile of 10 will give me 20 seeds (sometimes 21, im guessing the excact ratio is a decimal)

Watering can have an effect, up until the Veg puts out its results. It needs to be watered ASAP when planted and needs to stay watered until it grows the resulting Veg. Otherwise it'll whither and die. Once you harvest the single crop it produces, you can then apply the Scythe to remove the stalk. The hole should be left behind that can then receive a fresh seed.
