Quest rewards not worth the effort
In order to attain tokens, the player is currently expected to:

1: Drive/run to the far end of the map
2: Review a request and determine if it's worth the time
3: Take the request back to their mining/farming operation
4: Fulfil the request
5: Drive it back to the quest-giver
6: Hand in the requested item(s) and get the reward
7: Drive back to their mining operation
8: Repeat.

The kicker to this is, the amount of tokens you get make the entire process wholly not worth the time nor the effort to even attempt these quests. The scaling of the quest rewards also makes little sense. Example:

NPC 1: Wants: 1.0 units of raw Iron Ore. Reward: 52 Prospecting Guild Tokens
NPC 2: Wants: Gold/Emerald Ring of 45 units of Gold and 10 units of Emerald. Reward: 155 Prospecting Guild Tokens

For the amount of resources, preparation and effort, why would any player take up advanced requests, fiddle around with preparing something on the anvil when they can just scoop a single piece of iron ore off the conveyor and get the reward?

So you get your 52 tokens. Congratulations, you've just earned under 1/4 of a single piece of straight Corestone pipe. Quest rewards do not improve and do not become worthwhile at any point.

Hydroneer is a game about mining (technically farming too), exploration and automation. Exactly none of these aspects are present in the questing system. By design, it's hard locked into being a tedious, laborious, non-scaling and entirely manual process.

Facing the hundreds of hours of extra work to get the tokens needed to get enough pipes to power even 1 T3 drill down in T3 dirt... My choice is to either turn to cheats (mods) or just Alt-F4 and go play something else.

Unless this is radically overhauled, I'm going to play something else.

Dude,

First, there's nothing that says you ever have to do the quests. Nowhere is it REQUIRED that you do them. Yes, if you want that end all be all equipment then maybe. But the game is playable just fine without it. I know because I'm at over 50 hours and I just barely started playing around with the farming and questing.

Second, if the above post is your attitude, then by all means go somewhere else because we don't want you here. The game developers JUST RECENTLY released the questing system and they're still working things out. Get off your high horse and give them time. And even if they don't change it then who cares. Request your refund and go play something else. This is a chillax game meant to be more of an idle mining game than anything. You set up your automation and once that's done, all you basically do is repair it and explore.

The ENTIRE premise is about the grind getting set up for automation. Beyond that, there's nothing really left. The questing system which you are so nice to complain about, gives us that "not an idle game" ability.

TLDR: SHUT UP AND GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE!

PS: I am not subscribed to this discussion so I won't see you calling me whatever names you want to call me. Reason: I DON'T CARE!

You need the quests. The prospector quests scales pretty decently when do a few. Do the kings quest to get started.

The farmer guild though does not scale well at all. And the costs of basic items means by the time i have farming automated, i no longer need veggies

I'm pretty sure farming quest scaling is still broken. Farming itself is annoying to get running and automated compared to mining, for now I'm skipping it until it hopefully gets fixed. For everything else, you can just grab a bunch of quests at once, there's like four or five dudes all standing close to each other in Bridgepour, and I just grab all the scrolls and make a big pile of them then try and crank out everything in one go. Three guys want emeralds, I cut them all to the size of the largest request to minimise messing around, stuff like that. It's kind of tedious, but half of the game is just sitting around waiting for your mines to do stuff anyway.
