No Corestone
I just recently got back into the game after like a year or two and im having trouble moving to t3. Im in icehelm mining t2 dirt and not getting any corestone. Im wondering if my miners need to be further back in the cave, as i have tried using t2 dirt underneath (with a shovel) with no success.

One of the devs helped me with this, leaving it up for those confused. Dirt will change to whatever tier you place it on with the shovel, so you can't just grab t3 dirt and mine it in a t1 zone with the shovel. Thanks for the help!

Cloutium and Corestone are better found in higher tier Dirt. While most Claims are vertical (higher tier Dirt is found deeper into the ground), Icehelm is horizontal. The deeper into the wall will be where the higher tier/richer Dirt is found. So, if you're currently working with T2 Miners/Harvesters, use a T2 Pickaxe to dig ALL THE WAY to the back until you find Dirt your T2 Pickaxe cannot dig. That will be the back of the T2 Dirt. Then dig your way around the mineable space to create room to place your T2 Miners and the Conveyors to transport it. You'll probably find that T2 Dirt will produce more Corestone that Cloutium. My experience at Icehelm was that Corestone was Mined at a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio vs. Cloutium.

You do not need to upgrade Cloutium Pipes to Corestone Pipes when you start installing T3 equipment, it'll only affect the speed of the Miners and the Conveyors (Corestone Pipes have a higher pressure than Cloutium Pipes). You'll need to replace your Harvester first, as a T2 Harvester cannot process T3 Dirt, but, once that's taken care of (a minor redesign will be required as a T3 Harvester's water input is similar to a T1 Harvester, but different from a T2 Harvester), you can then get a T3 Pickaxe and start installing T3 Miners in the T3 Dirt...

Devs helped me on this one. Leaving this for anyone returning to the game with the same confusion. Dirt, if grabbed with a shovel, will transform into the tier of dirt you are currently sitting at. So you cant grab t3 dirt and bring it to a miner at t1 depths and expect it to produce t3 dirt loot. I ended up having to move my miners further back (as I am in icehelm). Thanks to everybody for the help!
