Accepts only one kind of gem.
Processes it while its active.
You retrieve the gem from it when you apply logic (via lever for example) or cut the water supply to it.
No logic required
just drop sorted Gems inside ( still needs water to operate)
compressing starts on each single drop .
If lid is closed you can still pickup compressed gems through.
Hitbox of the Gem appears if you hoover your mouse top of the compressor.
Good to know.
This will definitely help large Mines, as the Polished Gem Count should hover between 4 and, maybe, 10 to 20, verses several hundred Gems dropped in a Gem Compressor that gets operated every "X" Gems or "Y" weight of Gems. Add in the Teleporter MOD, made by ItchyBeard (one of the Dev's), scattered around the Mine, and the chunk count can be further dropped significantly as it doesn't have to travel the length of the Conveyors, but rather all Dirt can be jumped to near the Harvester at Intermittent parts of the Conveyor... This ALL should be a great QoL improvement, as the number of Dirt Clumps, Nuggets, Raw Gems and Polished Gems are the biggest hits to FPS in the game.
Need 4 of these plus additional sorter hooks , more conveyors and make sure the gems are dropped from 1 tile height into it so they don't get stuck on the edges.
And either wire in logic or cut water power to open the compressors up (tho you can grab gems through closed lid if you hover your mouse in specific way where the gem is but i find that a bit janky)
Sure its amazing for performance but i wish both of these were kept.
Like Smelter and Logic smelter i wish there was Old compressor (renamed to Manual Compressor and removed logic socket) and the new Logic compressor.
Eat cake and have cake.
It doesn't exit from anywhere.
You just turn it on or off with the logic (turning it off opens the lid so you can pull out the gems out of it)
If you want more automation and want your gems to go somewhere after they get compressed you gonna have to use magnets and make a circuit that times the magnets with the compressors inactivity phase.
That basically negates any point of automating it then.
Not really.
In fact the new compressor is better automated than old one.
It compresses gems automatically instead manually like old compressor did and they can be pulled out with logic magnets easily due to shape of the new compressor - If you really want to go the extra mile to make the gems go somewhere after they are already compressed.
As i stated in rest of my post.
