Why won't my drill work?
My forged iron drill is hooked up to water via forged iron pipes and it's just under the surface of the ground. It has dirt under it, but it refuses to work. I've turned the switch on and off but to no avail. What am I missing?

There is t1 diggable drit for it yes?
What's the water pressure that go to the t1 drill?
The pressure tanks is use to reset the pressure at where the tank is at.
And if none of those, is it possible for a pic of your drill set?

Edit, you can also use the shovel to put drit where you be placing the drill as if the drit is non diggable. If it t2 drit, will have to go higher to find the level of t1 drit.

There is T1 Dirt for it, at least I think it's T1. It's practically top soil. The pressure of the water going into it is 25. I have a pressure tank a few pieces of pipe away. How can I show you a photo, as far as I know I can't put one in a comment.

Ok, the the top ground is t1 drit, so that is not it, I am not sure if 25 is stronger enough pressure, is the drill light is on?
Edit, for pictures, if you have yours on your steam, you can go the share and copy the link then place that link of the picture here or that is what I been doing.
And the drill is connected to the drit,
The only current think I can think of is the light and water pressure at the moment, others my give better help then me, since the pressure is not 0, I think the light should trun on when you trun on the drill

As for pic, I dont know if it will work since my info is not private but we can still try to do without the pic.

The light is not on. I can try to figure out the picture thing.

Ok, the light is not turning on so my experience and my knowledge, it be water, drill not working properly, or not connection to the drit somehow. Is possible, try removing the drill, use the shovel to place some drit where the drill is at then place the drill onto of that, for pressure, if possible, put a tank connection to the drill with a shard in the tank. Form what I hear. Sometimes the drill somehow can not connect to the drit, sometimes, removing and replacing the drill back in the same place might reset the drill and might fix the problem but thos is all my info and may be wrong sad to say.

I myself had to place more dirt where the drill be at to get some of mine to turn the light on on my side.

There's a few things that drills need in order to work - one is a water connection, which you have. Second is some water pressure, which you also probably have, unless there are more than 60 pipes or so between your water intake and the drill you are trying to power up (ignoring pressure tanks, boosters, cloutium pipes etc.). Third, they need to be at the proper elevation (or distance from the entrance, if you're looking at the Icehelm mining site) - more than 8 blocks down (or in, for Icehelm) and forged iron drills stop working - however they still spark at their base, indicating that they are trying to dig, however they can't get through the terrain. Fpr tier 2 drills (cloutium) the limit is 14 blocks. And finally, and probably the most important bit, is that your drills also need to have some dirt right below then, however they can't be buried into the dirt. Sometimes shoveling too much dirt on their base or placing them on uneven ground causes them to stop functioning. A nice trick to place your drills properly and also make sure they get dirt is to buy a wooden or concrete block from housing supplies (e.g. down in Bridgepour), place it down, shovel a single bit of dirt on top of it, then place your drill on top of that and remove the block for later use. Make sure you don't have excess dirt on top of your block except for the clump you just shoveled in. You can also do it without a block by clearing a bit of space around the intended placement spot with a pickaxe, then shoveling enough dirt in to make it to the bottom of your drill. Less is more.

If it the pressure, the tank connection close to the drill, will fix it, if the drill is hovering over the drit a inch above it, adding more dirt to the location where the drill be at should fix it.

I assume they turn off at 0 pressure, but I have to be honest and say I've never built that far without a pressure tank. All of my T1 drills have pressure tanks plugged straight into them, and T2s get a pressure tank attached to a T-pipe for every two drills I place. I could run down to South Hope and check it out, but I feel that this is straying a bit from the OP's issue - I assume it's probably due to excess dirt around the drill.

Alright, I to think that the pressure to help with the speed and think 0 is where that the lights trun off and if so then it probably be the dirt or a drill bug again.
Edit the drill bug I am hearing that after you make a drill, it somehow be broken and would not work, is the drill bug I think I been hearing

Form my knowledge, steam allow you to do screenshots in game by F12 and you can upload the pic in your profile account.
If that helps for future knowledge?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. This worked lol. There was too much dirt on the drill. Thank you so much!
