I am having this same issue. starting area works fine but as soon as I go to the underground mine, they no longer function.

Have you dug in to the wall and placed them there? And they don't make a "tinck" sound!

As others have said, the Mining area at Icehelm is INSIDE the wall of the area where the property is purchased. Your Miners need to be inside the wall and the farther back you go, the higher the Tier. A T1 Miner probably will work just inside the wall, up to 8 squares back, but, past that, you'll need T2 Miners, which get expensive. You can Pipe it out (with Pressure Boosters), install your Conveyors, but you probably will not get operational Miners past 8 squares into the wall without T2. It's a large up-front investment and a PAIN hauling all that pipe down, but becomes fairly easy to expand after it's set up.

Well, I dug back to the wall and haven't been able to get T2 miners working at all. You turn them on and they just sit there. Then I took one back to my original mine at South Home, where I have two of them running. I swapped out the working one for the new one and the new one would go back to the spot where the original was. I also couldn't put the original one back, either. Now I have only one T2 running instead of 2 in the old mine and none working in the new one. This is really frustrating. I've spent hours digging with that poor excuse for a rake and the pick to set up this mine and nothing works. I hope they get the bugs out of this.

I have encountered no problems with drills in icehelm. Maybe upload some pictures or save file, so we maybe can see a problem in your setup.

I've uploaded some screenshots. Don't know how to get you a save file, but can if you provide the process. I also tried moving the miner to the front of the space and connecting to the pipe before the filters. Still no joy.

Yeah i dug out ALL the digable dirt and none of the miners are doing anything, no tink sound, just nothing like they done see dirt underneath em.

Do you have to have diggable dirt under the drills in there?

If you dug ALL the way to the back and ALL the way down, then you have no dig-able dirt underneath your Miners. Place ONE square in height of dirt and place the Miners on top of that. It may require you to completely rebuild your setup, one square higher, exactly as it is now, but that should work. Also, for test purposes, try moving the T2 Miner closer to the front and see if that works (along with the one square height).

I did try moving the T2 miner toward the front with no luck. I'll try putting some dirt under one of them. I thought of that earlier, but forgot about it again. Thanks for the suggestion.

In your pictures it looks like you on bedrock and as mentioned have no digable dirt underneath, try raising some dirt with rake or place some with the shovel, the height of the first drill looks good so you don't need to move it, you might want to raise the second drill to get some dirt under it.

You also don't need that many water filters, 5 is enough.

Thanks for the advice. That worked - after a try or two. Thanks for the info about the filters. I wasn't sure from the wiki whether I needed 5 or 10, so I went crazy.
