While there IS T3 Dirt in the game, there is no equipment that can work it. None of the current equipment (Shovels, Pickaxes, Miners, or Harvesters) can have any effect on T3 Dirt.
Effectively, it's not in the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's a planned update for the future. Probably not soon, as 2.1 is supposed to be the Farming update, but I understand it's planned...
what I am saying is, by the time you get enough Cloutium from tier 1 to start tier 2 you one is already super rich and can build any home desired really.
so there does not appear to be a point in being concerned with tier 2 yet other than to a personal objective.
I understand that the game will have more progression shortly but at the moment it feels like now that I have 100 weight of Cloutium I gathered from tier 1 I have in effect hit end game
That being said, if you haven't done so yet, maybe look into Logic Circuits to automate things in your mine. I have automated my Gem Compressor, such that it compresses my Gems every 400 Polished Gems. That automation includes stopping the Conveyor that feeds it, runs the Compressor, and restarts the Conveyor once the Compressor has completed its task.
I've also used Logic Valves and Switches to allow me to turn off my Miners, while leaving the Conveyors/Havester/Sorters/Gem Compressors running. That allows me to make sure all Dirt is run through the Harvester and out into the Smelters and Gem Compressor, before turning off my mine (I ALWAYS turn off my mine before saving, as there are known issue that can occur if a Save has a running mine in it. I also generally shut down my mine if I'm going to leave the vicinity of the mine, for whatever reason.).
We also know that the 2.1 update will contain Farming, which is a whole new prospect. We do NOT know what the costs associated with STARTING UP Farming will be, let alone the ongoing costs. I wouldn't be surprise if there's a bunch of new equipment and consumable resources that will cost funds. While you may not SEE a reason to have stockpiles of 1 -2 mil Hc available in various locations, I just want to be prepared. I can turn on my big mine and produce a several million Hc Necklace in just half an hour to an hour of game play, but I want the stockpile ON HAND, for when that upgrade drops...
but why buy a tier 2 miner?
why bother?
to b fair I understand an end game goal will be coming, I just wanted to make sure I was clear in understanding that currently there is not one.
edit: one thing about humans, when it comes to the goal of making money they never need to ask why...lol money for the sake of money
That's the difference between looking at it as an INVESTMENT vs a COST. The reality is it did not COST me anything because those T2 Miners more than paid back any "cost" and I have a mine in place to provide additional resources, as needed, in the future.
Additionally, there's the challenge of building out such a large mine. I had to figure out if the mine had enough height to fully support a double level. I then had to figure out how to efficiently lay out the Miners and Conveyors, and how to safely and efficiently get the Dirt Clumps from the upper level to the lower level. I had to perform a minor redesign on the lower level, to support said delivery of Dirt Clumps from the upper level to the lower level. ...and I decided I needed to build circuitry to more efficiently operate the mine without user input.
Now I have a mine that can spit out all sorts of mining resource just by running it for a short time. If I need funds, I can rapidly churn out Necklaces to supply Hc. If I need more Cloutium, the mine will produce it. The same is true for Iron, Shards, or Gems. This sets me up for future expansion, as they add more features to the game. The Dev's have already committed to adding Farming (and maybe Cooking) to the 2.1 update. That update could come at any time (hopefully when it's ready and complete/functional, not just to meet some sort of "deadline"). There have been rumblings of other updates to come in the future. Who knows...
Good games evolve and change, rather than just staying stagnant or going into "infinite bug fix mode". This game has signs that it will continue to evolve and change. I like what I've seen so far, and the game is suggesting that it will continue to evolve and change.
