Hand Sorter - Not sorting/working (solved)

I know the Hand sorter is a starter sorter, so i grabbed one to play with it.
I got the gist of how its meant to work, but either im missing some vital bit of info or its not working.
I've tried all the ores i have found so far even dirt but nothing happens.
I've tired placing the ore i want to sort, single and multiple on the little raised tray, before and after i put stuff in.
I then tried both of those with dropping individual ores, ores from a bucket ores from a pan.

I then tried all those combinations with pouring water into it with a bucket, pan and submerging it.

I also tried everything with left click placing it and E dropping it.

Im not sure how its meant to work its just not. Any info? is it broken?

SOLUTION: Ah! okay, it needs to be piped, with water plumbing. (deceptive name)

Plumb it? Does it need water piping? I thought it didnt need it because its named "hand sorter"

Ya, as far as I know, it is straight broken right now.
I bought one to use in early game as well, and after some extensive testing myself, it became the first thing I ever dropped off in the scrapyard lol.

Name is misleading. Yes it needs plumbing to function. After that you should be free and clear to use it the way you've been trying. You seem to get the gist of it's operation already based on the original post.

Thankyou kindly, that needs a tooltip modification saying it needs plumbing.

No problem. Just be warned, it's prone to vomit if you put too much in at once. In small batches, it's reliable. But ultimately you will move away from it for the belt option later on.

So that's why my hand sorter isn't doing anything, They should really change the name or description...

In all fairness, it's aptly named. If you goof up, you are definitely sorting by hand lol
