I would be glad to upload screenshots but I have not done it before so I'm not sure how to go about it.

The question is now what's the intended way? Because then either the placement of the Splitter is bugged, or the placement of the other belts.
but for a workaround, just place all conveyors directly on pipes, this worked for me so far for every belt type.
this^
splitters occupy the same space that the pipe is in.
I thought I was doing something wrong since the straight conveyor worked on top of the pipe.
I didn't even know you could do that. I have always placed my pipes running -through- the conveyor block, never that upward one block away thing as you might connect the port of a machine.
Interesting. Yeah you'll always have good luck though if you just run pipes in the same plane directly through the conveyors.
I have to say the other system (placing conveyors on top of pipes) would offer some very interesting setup, too.
But one thin I don't like atm: Since you now need to lay down pipes first and then conveyor belts, you now have a loss of pressure on every single conveyor belt piece. So for long belts you need to somehow squeeze a pressure booster inbetween.
Before the update it was just fine having a pressure booster right bevor the first belt.
The T pipes don't actually connect to the straight conveyor, you still have the water dripping but it is enough to run the conveyor.
Here's a look at it.
