Fair enough. Of there is no difference I can stop doing manual grinding. Pun not intended.
Thank you!
Granted, I am still on the first plot (just like to chill and hand mine) a 9 coin gain for this gem may not seem like much. But you will need fewer gems to make up the cost of the grinder vs the gem compressor.
So basically it is up to you. Also noticed some scales have been placed near some of the shops & stock market areas, so you may not even need to buy a scale now!
To actually answer your question though, I am not sure if cut will produce a more valuable compressed then uncut.
2 uncut emeralds, weight 2.57, value c.38 produced a compressed emerald, weight 2.57 value c.51
2 uncut emeralds, weight 2.11, value c.31 produced 2 cut emeralds weight 2.11 value c.52, produced a compressed emerald weight 2.11, value c.42
Doing the math shows that the value of the compressed gem is based entirely on weight and not whether the gems are cut or not. Compressing uncut gems will increase the value/weight while compressing cut gems will decrease the value/weight, and neither cutting nor compressing has an effect on weight.
uncut ruby - worth 150 coins
same ruby compressed - worth 200 coins weight 10
same ruby grinded - 250 coins weight 10
Take the Ruby for example;
