shard/ shard bar dissapearing?

ive fairly new to the game bit not sure if something happened if its a bug or something else

i had a large shard bar in one of the pipe 'boosters' that was over 6.5 weight and when i reloaded this afternoon it was no longer there...

do the bars get used up or something?

since that bar dissapeared my ores that are being ground up are getting stuck in a splitter as well

once i figure out a proper setup ill probaly be in a better position

just want to confirm the bars are only used up when they are powering something. if they are in the unit but no water is flower they dont get used?>
