Is it me or is there a bug existing for the problem?
Make sure the bars you're placing on the anvil are hot, and you have the correct materials to craft it displayed on the anvil
Please refer to the tutorial video to see how crafting on the anvil works. You may need to select the appropriate thing to craft by clicking the anvil. Each item requires a different type of material and amount of it
I had the same problem and finally fixed it. Not 100% sure what fixed it, but try 1) putting the materials on its picture at the edge of the anvil, or 2) putting them a bit to the side of dead center so it knows for sure they are on top of the anvil. And you can heat the bar back up by putting it in the fire, rather than re-melting it which was what I was doing.
Edit: Okay, I think it's putting it on or close to its picture that helps. So place the resources on the picture side of the anvil.
OKAY SO I FIXED IT BY HEATING THE BAR ON FIRE DIRECTLY (NOT INSIDE A CRUCIBLE OF ANY KIND) and then after a minute or so when i checked back i noticed the bar was hotter than any of my previous attempts
You are responding in a thread posted in Q3 2021.
Edit- There have been recent changes to how the anvil/recipe selection works and also what type/weight of metal bars/gems are needed in specific slots... according the scroll/recipe.
If that doesn't help you... Can you maybe detail your specific situation in a new thread in the troubleshooting/bug forum. If you want a faster answer, you might try posting in the game's Discord server.
But, anyway, you must 'place' the anvil down first.
Click on it to select the item you wish to make.
Heat the metal items on a forge (which you also have to 'place' down) till red hot.
Place the item in the correct slots on the anvil
Use the blacksmith hammer, (not the construction hammer) , bang it on the anvil and
wallah an item appears.
If you have other questions please start a new thread, and most importantly,
Have fun.
