Bucket/Pan physics explosion.
I know this has been discussed on other threads, but I feel it is up there with some of the other serious physics bugs currently in the game.

Could the dev(s) please come up with a fix for the explosion of nuggets when a bucket/pan full of them is dumped out (mostly accidental on my part).

I accidentally hit the dump button outside a few times with pans full of thousands of rough gemstones, needless to say the game had taken a serious performance hit from all the loose gemstones lying around in a huge area. :steamfacepalm: I tried to clean most of them up with the magnet staff, but the huge distance they are distributed makes getting them all pretty much impossible. Honestly, pretty much kinda ruined that whole save game due to it being a stuttering mess due to the number of loose objects now in the world, unless I want to spend hours scouring half the map for loose gemstones.

Maybe at least give a slight delay/animation before the physics-plosion happens when the dump pan/bucket button is pushed. Dunno

I really don't have any idea what I'm supposed to do with all those thousands of loose uncut gemstones without putting them in pans or just letting them pile up.

Thanks

Yes... been there, done that :steamhappy: and it is very annoying indeed. Especially when it happens by accident.
I remedied this by building a "dumping area" - 2x2 large foundation with walls and roof. At least the explosion is contained :D . But then you still have to pick up gems, iron and shards piece by piece and only the gold (because it is the most) with the magnet. The other way around it is to not go automatic before you can afford splitters as part of your system and use only crucibles for collecting the stuff (excluding the gems :steammocking: ).
I personally sell the pan-full with uncut gems directly without going through the grindstone... it's just way too time consuming after half an hour of the system working to have to poIish like 50-100 of the smallest gems (i use only ram drills because I don't want to move the system around or having to walk around and load dirt into the goliaths... dealing with dirt clumps is enough of an exercise :steammocking: ). Plus I dig the low levels by hand to obtain bigger gems for crafting purposes - don't know if there is any hude difference in price only from the gems, but it doesn't quite feel realistic to craft ~50k gold bars with a gem I can barely put the mouse cursor on, in order to pick it up :steamhappy:
I would love it if the dev introduces an algorithm to maybe "pour out" the stuff in portions or some new item which allows you to do the poring out in a more precise way. Anyways I am sure that this is only a temporary situation and there will be a solution in the future.

I did this exactly 1 time and learned a very painful lesson. Hopefully there will be a solution in the future.

As previous poster has stated, if you build a room you'll be able to contain the gold inside. You'll get better at this as the operation grows. Don't expect to always dump buckets. Here's what I did:

I created my "dumping building" and then put 2 doors on it. One was the entrance and the other was the exit only used for gold. When you open up the exit, I had a conveyor line with splitters, this. I would use the magnet stick to move the gold from my dump shack to the conveyor.
This worked wonders until I wanted to make my operation bigger.

Also to note but I don't know if it's true: When you dump items out some can fall through the ground, doesn't matter if it's in a building or whatever. Expect a little loss, but since gold is plentiful, it's not an amount to worry about.

Good luck, this is truly a fun game. You'll experience some other bugs as well. Just don't give up. It has one dedicated developer and this game is cheap for what it is.

I would also use the starting area to refine your building process. Because it's much easier to learn the game at the start than move to a bigger area and still not know how everything works.
I've been playing for around 40 hours and I'm still working on making my small starting gold mine work perfectly. This doesn't mean I haven't moved onto a bigger area, but the small area produces consistent gold with very little hands on maintenance.

Thanks for containment ideas and tips.

I will definitely be building a containment area just for those pesky uncut gemstones until a we get a fix for the physplosions of doom.

Kinda hint on the amount you can hold, I am on a super duper computer 128GB RAM a 2080 RTX GFX and a double xenon 5k.
With running my automatic system for 2 ingame days (then something gets broke), I can hold around 11k different objects (meaning dirt gold crystals metal and gems), as everything gets processed automaticly into bars etc, when it becomes laggy I sell all my gems without cutting them, which still gives me 3k gold (which is nothing as I prouduce 10k gold bars and 7k metal bars after 5 mins ingame play).
An automatic gem upgrade would be nice to solve tiny bit of this.
Also as I managed to get to the bottom of my pit and found alot of my 'lost' stuff, this slows down the game alot, when you combine the lost stuff the game will be smooth again.
