Select outline + make bars, put bars in furnace to get hot (not in the crucible unless you want to melt them and add more gold to increase the value), put gem and hot bars on anvil, hit anvil (not items) with smiths hammer, presto! You should have your necklace or ring. Similar thing for making weapons but no gems - make bars + choose outline, heat bars in furnace, put on anvil and hammer it.
Size doesn't matter aside from the sell value, same goes for gems (also gem type doesn't matter either).

Yeah already made some necklaces. Feel silly because I had made weapons before, I just forgot about heating the bars up lol. I really like that the size of the bar and gems don't matter as the value of the necklace goes up with the value of the materials. Very nice system.
