Finding all friends and Thoughts?

First of all, I got this on the switch and I adore it! It's exactly the kind of thing I love, haha.

So I'm nearing the end and I really want to go get all the friends and find all the thoughts but I'm having a lot of trouble. Is there clues somewhere, like in the journal, that I am missing or are we just supposed to walk around and hope we spot them? Because I've combed so many islands to come up empty. I guess I'd just like some advice?

I was wondering this as well. I like a map that isn't cluttered with a gazillion "objective" icons, but this veers a little too far the other way really!

First, without spoiling anything, you will still be able to complete the game after completing the story, so don't feel like you're blocked until you complete everything!

We're actually thinking about adding a bit more in-game tips for some of the harder to find creatures in a patch so I'd love your opnion? What would be the best way for you to find hints about them. Do you usually use a guide outside the game, or follow only the ingame hints ?

Also, do you know around how many creatures/thoughts you're missing ?

I usually like when games have a little popup when you hover over an area on a map that tells you what's left in that area (It would say something like Friends 1/1 Thoughts 1/2.) Alternatively, in the journal area where the friends and Thoughts are listed, when you hover over one that you don't have it could give a little hint where the information/quote usually is.

I prefer to use in game clues, I think it's fun when I can figure out what the clue means. I don't mind using guides if the game is really arbitrary though.

I'm missing three friends from the final area and roughly 10 thoughts throughout all three areas.

Thank you for replying. I really do love your game, I didn't expect it to be as thoughtful as it is and I'm really enjoying that. This is one of those very very rare games for me that I'm going to wish I could play for the first time again and again.

Yes, that would be my preference too - hover tips with numbers on the map. It would narrow the search down a little. It's also a slightly tricksy map when you don't have proper directions or information (that's not a bad thing!)
And yeah, I wish I could forget everything about this game in order to play it again!

Cahoots can be found in the interior where you activated the blue beam in the last world. More specifically, in the second puzzle combining the snowballs and lights :)

I'm basically done with the game, but I kinda wanna collect everything before the final "fight". Missing all of these:
one friend (Oowoo) in Frightfrost [imgeasy.com]

I can hear this one thought in Frightfrost, but can't figure out how to get there. I thought this was bugged at first, but apparently that issue got fixed in 1.1 so it can't be that. [streamable.com]

Would really appreciate some help here cause I've been searching for hours.

Oowoo can be found in SunkenHarbor, near where you found the trumpet I believe.

Let me check about the thoughts sfx. If it's not fixed yet we might have to hot patch it!

Here's two hints about the thoughts in Frigthfrost :
- Look out for the highest point of Frightfrost, close to where you encountered Whabam
- The other one is at the very beginning of Frightfrost, explore the tunnel from Dinoland to Frightfrost.
