How exactly will that affect the location of skill tomes? They plan on removing them from trials, but they most likely will stay in the same field, just in endurance or journey modes.

This will be a noob question: but when do you unlock them? I completed W1 trial, did endurance up to wave 50 but still dont have the skill. Am I missing something?

You have to open the wizard chest with tower shots or gem bombs and finish the level successful (Endurance just get killed after chest open).
Chests have hit points same as enemies but can also come with armor and shield points.
Chests are visible in the mode selection as a yellow rectangle.
