MKb since a large part of combat is aiming your strikes/shots with enemy weak-point.

I prefer a controller, since mobility is a huge part of the game and having the full range of directional movement that a joystick provides makes the mobility feel more natural and precise.

I feel like M&kb is a no brainer for this game. Accuracy and precision is required for critical strikes as Slim Jong Un mentioned, and quick turns to escape enemies will feel very janky with a controller. Movement with a controller may feel 'smoother' and more 'natural' but I don't think more precise.

Movement with a controller is objectively more precise, keyboard only provides 8 directions of movement and 2 speeds, while a joystick (in most circumstances, depending on how the developers programmed the game) has at least 16 different speeds and I have counted at least 64 different directions of movement.

The ideal would be a joystick for movement and a mouse for aiming, but it's hard to get a hold of a one handed controller that is compatible with PC.

Since I must decide between more precise movement or more precise aiming, I will prioritise more precise movement every time due to the tactics and combat tendencies that I have developed.

I don't think that's more precise, you just have more directions to move in and better control over your speed which would allow for smoother movement but not what I would say more precise movement. The lack of more directions to move with while using a keyboard disallows smooth transitioning in movement but combined with the mouse will ultimately be more precise.

What you're actually doing is deciding between smooth movement with a higher level of control and janky aiming versus quick, precise movement and aiming that may not be as comfortable.

Aiming with a joystick is not so much "janky" as it is just slower during the higher ends of aiming speeds, and less precise at the lowest ends of aiming speeds. Most players won't ever notice this since most of their gaming will be in the middle end of the spectrum, and a high-end player who has most of their experience with a joystick will be able to overcome the difference at the extreme ends without difficulty.

In response to your stance on utilising the mouse to overcome the lack of precision on the keyboard's movement, I agree but the opposite is also true, I actually end up utilizing the additional movement precision from the joystick when moving to overcome the disadvantages of using a joystick for aiming, in the same way as you described utilising the precision of the mouse to fine-tune movement with a keyboard.

Controller is my preference, and one note for the dev on the current controller implementation: please do not have a mouse cursor controlled by the joystick for menu navigation. This feels horrible to navigate and is the worst of both worlds.

Please instead put in the work to make navigating the menus with the dpad or left thumbstick as general UX wisdom would dictate, i.e pressing up and down navigates up and down an option in the menu, instead of as it is currently that you have to navigate the 'controller mouse pointer' over your desired menu option and press A.

Agreed, a mouse cursor controlled with a joystick is a nightmare at best.

I've been playing entirely in 3rd person with an Xbox 360 controller with no aiming or dodging issues. Feels perfectly natural to me. I imagine keyboard and mouse are fine too.

I use 3 of those snap-on thumbstick extenders on my right stick for aiming in all of the games I use controllers for, and I don't feel handicapped by not using a mouse to aim at all. In this game I chain weakpoint strikes back to back to back all the time. I imagine doing that with a mouse is fine too, just different.

It just comes down to personal taste and what feels best to you personally.

Also I agree that the joystick cursor needs work. At the very least there needs to be a slight deadzone to stop the drifting while trying to select stuff on the menus.

Aiming is wayyyy more important than having omnidirectional movement in this game. This game, from its UI to gameplay, is very obviously geared toward MKB.

I use Mkb, I might think differently if I used 3rd person.

I always use controllers in games like this. That being said, combat relies on timing dodges or kicks and then aim for weakpoints which i imagine would be so much easier with a mouse. I'd like to see a bit of snapping to weakpoints on controllers. Not a lot, just enough to compensate for it being harder to aim
I'd have no objection to some aim assisting as long as there's an option to turn it off.
