Can't rebind keys on keyboard

Whenever I try to rebind my keys on keyboard in asks me to input a key to replace one with and doesn't work as when I try inputting any key it doesnt accept it. As well as this it doesnt let me go back by pressing escape or q which forces me to close and reopen the game every time I try to do this
