I used that minigame as the way I made money for Kiryu to go ahead and get the weapon shop up to level 10 so I could get the armguards and stuff, and I couldn't stand driving the taxi anymore. And I got better at it with the number of times I did it. Haven't got max score, but I got closer every time.
And yes, I'll also confirm there is a weapon shop, you invest cast to level it up, and its max level is 10, and that's when you can buy the premium arm and leg guards so you can block knives and not be staggered by low attacks.
Couple hints if anyone's interested:
1. You can just look at the voice bubbles at the bottom and hit the button when they turn pink.
2. The bar fills moderately fast, so you can miss it you following #1, until you get a feel for how long each type of order takes.
3. For Dunk orders, just mash the appropriate button as it's counting down. That way you can sort of forget about them and pay attention to what else is going on for a moment. Very useful in the final round.
