Shinada is the worst character to play as

Topic. While I want to like his sections and he is a nice character, he is just the worst fighter in every aspect compared to literally anyone else on the roster.

His combo game is bad, only going for 3 light attacks and not even getting double finisher like every other character. In addition they lack either Saejima's strength, Akiyama's speed or Kiryu's versatility. His throws have no chance of collateral damage. While he does have means of re-entering foes into throws, 99% of all bosses get immune after the first one and just break free, making it worthless. His Herculean Charge deals next to no damage and just wastes heat. And to top it off, he is the only character in the game without his own version of the Tiger Drop.

They try to make him the weapon master, but he's not even good at that. You need to spend a ton of time and resources to get any of the weapons that deal more damage than the other characters do with their bare hands. And then keep repairing those weapons. Sure he has the unbreakable weapons, but those deal such pitiful damage to the point you're better off just using your bare hands. Even if you get the reinforced versions.

As Kiryu you can adapt to any situation with your extremely wide arsenal of moves. As Saejima you can just annihilate everything with your absurd health, Herculean Spirit to never flinch and high-damage charge attack. As Akiyama you can use speed of your combos to find the smallest openings and taunt in any situation for more heat. As Shinada you can go back to character select, choose any other character and slap yourself for thinking he was worth a damn.

Well, we didn't see Akiyama fighting before either.
I agree that Shinada is the worst character to play as. I think that it's not that bad equipping him the unbreakable knife and having him slicing up enemies and use its heat action

I had an easier time with Shinada than Akiyama, and definitely better than Tanimura. Probably just preference.

Even Shinada allows you to strategize a bit, but Haruka has nothing to her and you can't be creative whatsoever.

just replayed the game and shinada is really good at countering threw his normal combos and breaking out of groups to isolate an enemy. if you give him a beer before a fight his boost in heat ends up making him a monster thanks to the meteor tackle heat action. if you are having issues on boss fights you can dodge behind them and spam the 3xsquare combo to cheese it

Y'know I was gonna disagree but thinking back the only boss I really enjoyed fighting was Baba, it was a pretty fair and fun fight whereas another stand out fight like Daigo had his moveset copy pasted from 4 so you're pretty much expected to be Kiryu.

Shinada's grabs should be like you have the Hercules Gloves equipped but by default, considering it's half of his moveset. Or at least give him the gloves instead of Kiryu getting them.

The counter-grab is doo doo fart due to how the slow ass animation leading to the grab still counts as time in the grab, so the enemy can break away almost instantly. So that should be like neigh inescapable for enemies.

There should be more to do with an enemy in a grab period, like how Tanimura has heat actions for grabbing someone and being next to them, or putting them in the armlock. In fact Shinada should just have MORE. ):

Shinada should get weapon based upgrades like additional damage, more heat gain, increased durability etc. Like I'm talking Amon Sunglasses and Slugger Amulet from 0 type weapon damage.

A lot of unused potential for the best character in 5, and now he's gone forever because what reason could they have to bring back SHINADA?

well atleast you need to thank him for starting the pullout weapon heat actions that both Kiryu and Majima have in 0.
I'd say he kinda sucks fighting crowds but good enough on 1v1,when you can finally combo an enemy from behind and add the grab after finisher, and Kiryu's supplex city super heat action from 3 is just simple getup heat action for him.
His weapon damage sucks but the weapons heat actions is what makes him shine for having more options, and since he get indestructible weapons you can actually use them against Amon fight.

Honestly he’s pretty decent, his tackles and Instagrab skill is really strong. But against actual fighters his options are more limited. After Haruka section though he was a godsend and probably my favorite ost.
