I didn't get into cho-han as much but that sounds funny. Actually, don't think we're at any point where Kiryu can play cho-han in Y5 yet as I don't think it's in Nagasugai and we're still with Saejima.
Well, at least it didn't take us that long to get there. Just have to do it again later. We apparently retained our 200K mahjong sticks, so at least there's that.
What's weird is the one in Sotenbori didn't appear to cheat and basically became the source of all funding in that city, as we won more or less every game. By contrast, the one in Kamurocho simply seems unbeatable without cheats, though pays a *lot* more.
A short while ago, my girlfriend beat the God of Mahjong and she did not cheat. This is the only time we've won legitimately out of a good twenty attempts over the past few weeks. I still think he does 'cheat', but at least it is possible to win. As predicted, nothing special happened apart from a couple million yen.
I'm guessing you played as Saejima for the god of mahjong. I wonder if Akiyama or Shinada gets any weird stuff like that.
Edit: yeah they are just opponents you can bowl against, I am guessing it's for those who don't want to go through the hassle of completing hostesses to get some opposition.
