too lazy to make a full guide:

Giant Oarfish I caught at night at 125m; English guide says Sunset at 130-140m, japanese guide says 90-150 any time of the day.

I was following the fish with my controller, left and right. but i just got sick of doing anything and then i found a much easier way to fish. use controller (mouse didn't work very well), don't use the sticks, only hold in RB to fish, then stop pressing RB (stop pressing everything) and let it go down to green, then just reel it back up to red, then back to down to green. That's it. Worked for me on every fish. Might have take a bit longer overall but at least my thumbs and eyes weren't hurting.

Thanks man, you´re a lifesaver!
heh i forgot about this thread. I got so sick of reeling in barrels I just set it to the side for a bit. damn this one is frustrating. the trick works in Y5 too whenever/ if ever you get to it. it's must less frustrating too (plus there's an item that makes catching fish easier).

@Legato is the fishing in this one the same as Yakuza 3. Or have they made it a little easier?

it's similar but 3, 4 and 5 are all slightly different. Y4 is "harder" because they put so much trash in between you and the fish so it takes so much longer to get all the fish in Y4. That's why I just gave up and tried pushing as few buttons as possible.

Y5 is probably the easiest because you can reel in at double speed.

Man I miss the simplicity of fishing in Yakuza 0

I have nothing against changing the fishing mechanics to make it more interesting, but it would have been good if they had considered the following:

1. Instead of LB and RB (shoulder buttons) for slack and reeling, it would have been worthwhile using the right analogue stick (clockwise for slack and anti-clockwise for reeling). That way you can use both analogue sticks for the fishing.

2. They really need to slow the speed down for reeling the fish when it’s hooked. Lol it’s way too quick (even on 30 FPS), you need reflexes like a cat to react to the change in direction of where the fish is going.

Holy crap bless dude I can't tell you how awful this task looked when I thought I had to have my face pressed right up to the screen going crazy with the analog stick but this really does work.

Just reel in the instant it turns green and stop everything the second it beeps at you, even at times it can feel scary the tension increases on it's own it's foolproof.
