Fighter Maker's Makoto Tokita
♥♥♥♥ this guy. For real, I'm amazed at the balls on those devs for having the gall to program such abhorrant AI behavior on this character, likely as a joke to contrast his personality. Not even Catfight on previous Yakuza games raised my cortisol levels this high.

Not even the best guide online for Fighter Maker can help you in this one. No no, actually even the guides themselves give off a PTSD vibe when writing about Tokita.

The advice? Pray to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RNGsus the AI takes pitty on you and that's it.

Is there a Yakuza 4 trainer that can help you pass this or something? I'm at my wit's ends here and this close to just giving the middle finger to this mini-game, and then give it up.

keep his mood up and you'll be fine. I finished him in 22 turns didn't bother save scumming stats for negative training" it just wasn't necessary.

Also the guides aren't clear, but some of the Master Finishing Moves (any) rounds are ok to fail and might take multiple attempts (not restarting from a save) to succeed. You'll notice there are more rounds of that training than actual finishers available to learn.
yeah i remember the guide would say they would get an finisher but then they would fail and i was like "ok...what now?" so there were times i abandoned it.

Follow this guide, but replace all his fights with sparring. I did him this way and had no problem with his fighting in tournament when I replaced Turbo Takeoff with Moody. He will finish with rank A, but if you want to get him to rank S for personal completion purposes you can slap 4-5 easy fights just before tournament.
Not gonna lie, I had more issues with Masataka as compared to Makoto. Sure, I lost multiple fights with Makoto, which I had already expected from the guides constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on him, but I must've lucked out in the tourney cuz he cleared it first try. Makoto on the other hand, I had to reload my save AT LEAST 10 times for the tourney win as for some reason he just couldn't deal with the opponents that backflipped away and grapple-flipped him into oblivion. Mind you, this was even with his stats maxed out. Man that was a pain in the ass

for the s rank you only need 1 finisher after that the main draw is getting trust

I just finished tournament with Makoto using Tiger Crush like crazy and hoping he doesn't lose too easily, took 4 or 5 attempts. But his AI is so useless, can't even land basic attacks most of the time ...
I never used a single heat action in any match ever. Maybe it's just dumb luck of placebo but in the remaster and the ps3 game, it seemed like they just attacked much more often if you don't get involved at all. Makoto ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks because he's so weak but it wasn't nearly as painful as the QoL lacking UI we have to trawl through to train these idiots over and over again. At least they had the smarts to put a save point in the dojo.

Makoto Tokita.
So first problem I had was his trust. Trust was constantly blue heart after numerous meetings and sparrings. It took forever but his trust finally went yellow heart.
Second problem is that he doesn't attack. He is constantly dodging and when he gets hits he takes a lot of damage. He is basically one of those enemy types that you fight in the game that constantly dodge, has low health, and are there just to pester you.
But yeah just like everyone else. I am not having any luck with this guy. He can win 1 star tournaments but not 2 star.

he's terrible but once you got conviction skill, max trust and best mood, all fighters seems to be unbeatable for me.
Its over. Aug 3, 2021 @ 11:12am

I have his stats pretty much maxed at turn 25 and he STILL can't win any fight higher than 2 stars. He gets his ass whooped in a tournament, naturally. He has no offense OR defense. Moody does nothing, Conviction does not help him, nor do any of the other skills that supposedly make him attack more.
