Saejima Strategiy
I personally find saejima very slow and cumbersome to play, when fighting fast enemies especially, his combos are so slow that they dodge to the side, stunhit you and combo you to the ground.
Since you can't quickstep cancel, what is the strategy when fighting these enemies other than grabbing them lmao?

Try getting the Herculean Spirit and Tortoise Spirit. These upgrade will avoid getting staggered during charging or getting interrupted in heat mode.

That doesn't really help, I don't have issues getting knocked around, Saejima is too slow, they dodge around the attacks.

Yeah he sucks. He's like beast mode Kiryu but worse in every way. You just have to power through it.

Funny, I was Saejima bashing months ago when ppl said I was an elitist and troll for how frustrating he is to control, and here's a thread where others see the same thing. He's a bit better in Y5, but man is his section painful in 4. He's cool as a character, but it takes some experimentation to get his move set down in 4. Just keep at it and try not to worry too much about getting enemies to bounce early on until getting more skills. It's been awhile since I played 4, but if I recall I relied on his basic throw in the early levels if that helps at all.

Aye, i also used the basic throw as a clutch, i find out the blockbash works well for dealing with fast, light-attacking enemies(L1+triangle)
I don't really like his section in general, story wise its a bit of a standstill, but eh. it hopefully gets better.

Always use his charged Heavy Attack after Basic Attacks. And if you got the upgrades to do a couple extra heavy hits after the charged Heavy Attack, then you should be fine. That's what I mainly did that got me through his whole part in the story. Even though it seems repetitive, it's the best way to go about it if you can redirect attacks well

Interesting I thought he was pretty strong

Oh he's stupidly strong, just super slow especially in 4. Tbh I kinda enjoyed him in 5 after getting a few upgrades.

I can't stand his moveset or the character in general - dull as ♥♥♥♥.
