right now it says i need to update the game but i have no option to, reinstalling didnt work

HOW TO MELEE? HOW TO SWITCH SIDE WHEN SWINGING BAT?
I know how to change keys for melee, ability and moving around but i'm having so much trouble not being able to hit my bat on the left, it's always on the right, or is that normal? How to aim my bat at any different direction aside from the right? for example if a bomb is on the left or enemy is on the left, i'm done for, i can only swing right; therefore i have to go behind the bomb or the enemy in order to hit it. please help and tell me how to switch side when melee batting! it sounds ridiculous but i hope for some clarification on how! :(
