Why saves are not by account? My girlfriend bought this today. We see 3 save slots. Game is shared with me and I decide to give this game a try so I log on my Steam account and start the game but it's the same 3 save slots. I should have my own 3 save slots.

Instead of saving to:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Fireproof Games\The Room VR\*.save

why not use:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Fireproof Games\The Room VR\<user_id>\*.save

Can you address this issue?

Hi there,

The saves are per Windows account (the %USERPROFILE% bit of the path will be different for different users). I think that's the recommended way to store save games on Windows.

If you're sharing a Windows account, then there's still the 3 profile slots which should allow you to both have your own progress saved.

If that's not enough slots, could you explain why you want more than one each? It might be something we can accommodate better in the future!

We have 14yo twins too... and can only think of all the family with 4 members and plus.

There is only one Windows account, all the games are on the desktop for everyone to enjoy. Maybe saves should be saved outside %USERPROFILE% and only use <user_id>.

I have obtained the artefact from the coffin but no event is triggered. I'm just stuck in the crypt with the artefact as an inventory item. tried quitting and going down again but no change.

Hello,
When i launch the game on steam, i have a total black screen. I can hear the legendary sound of the game.

Thank you for your help

For me the game crashes at a specific location.

After the first level, in that void room. You look through a paper at a symbol. This crashes the game. The first time it loaded for a few seconds then crashed. Subsequently it just crashes as soon as I look at the symbol. There is no other way to progress.

No errors are displayed. The game simply exits.
Is there a crash log I can access ?

I am using valve index on Windows 10 in Steam VR mode.

Ok, I fixed it myself. It was an issue with the Microsoft Media Player. Also for previous commenters this may be helpful. Go to C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\LocalLow\Fireproof Games\The Room VR ( <USER> is your username, you may need to show hidden folders to find that location if you navigate there with the explorer ) in there is the log file output_log. At the end (bottom) of that file it showed the latest issues before the crash, so scroll down. In my case: Initializing Microsoft Media Foundation failed. So I went to settings>APPs>Optional Features and enabled Microsoft Media. then restarted. This worked for me. @Grymms, what is in your file, if you need support you may want to send them an email.

I wish I can find C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\LocalLow\Fireproof Games\The Room

open your file explorer and paste C:\Users\ into the bar ( where it says This pc > or Quick access ) then follow the link as above step by step. \Appdata ....

[ here are screenshots, below the [1] ]
https://www.tutorialspoint.com/windows10/windows10_file_explorer.htm

the log file will be in the described folder. If you can paste this here that may help
Grymms Nov 17, 2020 @ 8:19pm
I can navigate at this level. The problem is that there is no catalog \Appdata anywhere on my drives. Thank you for your support anyway.

Appdata is a hidden folder, so normally you cannot see it. But you can change that with these instructions https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-10-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5
