is this game scary?
I am thinking about buying this game, but I do not really handle scary things in VR well :) does this game try to scare you?

I can't say scary, No ghosts, no witchs, no one to meet. The atmosphere is made to fatten, but nothing will happen. No fear, above all you have to cogitate. Great puzzle game !!!

Hi there,

I'd say it's spooky rather than scary. There's no jump-scares or anything like that, but there's a general slightly spooky atmosphere to it.

If you've played the other games in the series, it's about the same level as they are. There's creepy imagery, but you don't have to worry about monsters or being attacked. It's just you and the puzzles.

I'm only a short way in so take this for what it's worth, but from my experience, while (so far) it doesn't set out to deliberately startle, the atmosphere certainly keeps you on the edge (dark rooms, random thunder strikes, creepy unsettling objects) and certain interactions with stuff can feel way more intense than they would be on a phone/monitor (like you pick up a creepy object and there's a flash and the room begins to change) - which to be fair is typical to most VR.

Just to provide a fuller picture having finished it: The game has no jump-scares, sudden things are usually telegraphed ahead of time and are kept at a distance from the player, but it does try to imply otherwise by putting you into horror-cliche situations where you wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a jumpscare - which in a way makes it even worse :D

That being said some things are just scary looking and may result in inadvertent jumpscares when you teleport to them to take a look.

no jumpscares? tell that to my underpants when I opened the sarcophagus at the museum to see a spooky mummy with demon smoke coming from its mouth and EXACTLY at that second, the "randome" weather decided it is time for a lightning strike!

Ditto on opening the sarcophagus. I expected him to get up every time I was facing away from him.
