It's not worth using. All your peeps will go equip their swords but yet drop their weapons instead of putting them in their tool cabinet. You then have to click each tool cabinet and add the tool back.

When you turn off combat mode, everyone keeps their swords equipped and tries to do their jobs without tools. You then have to select each peep and unequip the sword then reequip the tool.

Too much of a hassle and it takes too much time once you have more than 5 peeps.

Makes combat mode useless. Hope there is change planned for it.

Seems like a bug it not happen to me they equip and unequip auto never let the tool / weapon drop.

Do you have weapon racks assigned to each colonist?
If you have a tool rack and a weapon rack, colonists will swap between them when you go in/out of combat mode.

IF you only have a tool rack, things get pretty iffy.

I have Tool and Weapon Racks.
I'll look at it more carefully and see what's what.

If I turn on combat mode and then just turn it off without assigning actions to anyone, they re-quip the tool. But if I send them into combat and then they start doing tasks afterwards before I turn off combat mode, they don't unequip the sword and their tool is no longer in their tool cabinet. At least thats what happened to me twice now.

Normally as far as i seen they keep both weapon and tools but switch when in or out combat mode but clothes work as said above.

The tool is no longer in the tool rack? If the tool is not in the rack, they will not equip it after turning combat mode off.

Can you confirm how exactly the tool vanishes from the rack? If you unequip a tool that's assigned to a rack, it should automatically spawn in that rack.

It looks as though they put it in the rack because i have the rack next to the weapon rack. But when battle is over and I assign my peeps to bury the dead, the other peeps start doing work. Then when I turn off combat mode, they all return their weapon but do not equip the tool. When I check the tool rack, it is empty and I have to select the tool again for the rack before they can equip it.
