50% CDR on a 6 sec CD skill saves you 3 sec
50% CDR on a 0.3 sec CD skill saves you 0.15 sec
50% AS on a 0.5 sec cast skill saves you 0.25 sec
50% AS on a 0.1 sec cast skill saves you 0.05 sec
To be noted that CDR is capped at 75% and AS is capped at 90%.
Also your calculations are wrong anyway. +50% attack speed on a 0.5 sec cast skill doesnt mean 0.25 sec cast (that'd be +100% attack speed), its 0.333... seconds.
So I suppose which is better depends on whats capping your DPS, your cast speed or CD. Fast skills have fast animations, so you end up waiting for CD.
I have a more detailed breakdown on the Slormancer discord:
https://discord.com/channels/531482023102251018/1359302446131839075
Each skill has both a cast duration and a cooldown.
If it takes 0.10 sec to cast and have 1 sec of cooldown behind, you cast it once every 1.1 sec.
And reducing its cast time to 0.05 allows to cast it every 1.05 sec. So a bit less than 5% increase of dps in this case.
In the end, saving 0.1 from attack speed or from cdr as the same impact on dps (but saving on attack speed rather than cooldown allows you to start moving again faster). So the stat that saves you the more time is the more efficient for dps.
It's not exactly accurate as there is also a pre cast duration that is not affected by either.
BTW to be noted that channeled skills are not affected by attack speed.
AS works the same way as CDR: if you have 90% AS, the cast animation is reduced by 90%.
The naming can be misleading but it's easier to have similar stats work the same way.
Edit: yeah, okay, a quick test confirmed that. Nice to know.
