Could someone explain the skill Chrono-Puncture?
I don't understand what it does. (something something suffering of A THOUSAND YEARS... but 0 damage?)

It's a melee attack that deals a very small amount of damage normally and its remnant deals a very high amount of damage.

If it seems like it doesn't do anything when you use it, it's probably because the skill has really weird and finicky hit detection, so it can be kind of hard to hit some enemies (like the imps).

I see the icon on the enemies. What's the easiest way to test the skill? (the high dmg part)

AFAIK, the only way to actually trigger a remnant and make use of the bonus damage component is by choosing the Chrono-Remnants upgrade in the last tier of the skill.

It's kind of mind-boggling, I know.

To be fair, all three classes have very oddly designed skill trees that include abilities and bonuses that require other, (usually) rather specific talents. I think the mage is the worst by far though.

I believe the skill (Chrono-Puncture) itself is quite good, but I can't see the Chrono-Remnants upgrade being worthwhile. You'd have to gear heavily toward melee recast chance (in order to trigger it) and, despite it having a high damage potential on paper, I simply can't see it holding up against other options since remnants can't trigger anything.

That said, my understanding of the mage isn't that good compared to the knight or huntress, so it's possible I'm wrong.

That description sounds like a Naruto joke...

Chrono-Puncture by itself is garbage.
But there is an actual use for it. You can put it on autocast (bind to numpad key 2, turn on numlock, then pres this 2 + numlock). it will be cast automatically on cd.
Take Chronobliteration passive for it to become obliteration school.
Devoted scholar mage specialization has Emblematic caster passive in last row.
So your chrono-punctures will power up your chosen damaging skill (probably orb) and give it 90% more damage.
Pretty good.
Arcane commander with clones still better.
