Controller support needs rework

Hi,

I love this game but i guess the controller support needs a massive rework.

1) Navigue into menus is not intuitive, using bumpers or triggers are confusing at least to me to navigate up and down. An option to add a moving cursor like Diablo 2 resurrected should be nice and should resolved the second point.

2) i cannot change skills with a controller. I don’t know how to do that. I’m still using the first 2 skills for all 3 characters.

3) The auto target is a mess, it doesn’t target the nearest target, some of time it targets an ennemy off screen when there are many on screen.
Some options should also be nice to set like target the nearest or stronger ennemy.

4) move with stick, left or right have a strange impact on character animation. It look like there are very fast left/right inputs so the character « blinks » with the left/right animation (don’t know if i’m clear but it’s not a stick issue)

I’m playing on Steam Deck only so i’m complaining to improve this game because i like it.

Hope this will help and the controller support reworks will be pushed on the top of the todo list.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I agree with all the points you are raising.
We'll rework most of the system at some point.

As for changing your Skills, on the Skills menu, there are two buttons below the description of a Skill: "Equip on LB" and "Equip on RB" (depending on your keybinds) that you should be able to select and press.

I'm a diehard controller user and I can say you have done a pretty good job with controller support, I don't know what it was like before, as I just bought the game, but really enjoying it.

2025 and I’m still having issues described by the op on steam deck, auto targeting is horrendous

I just dipped. Hopefully a future update addresses it.

I have just done the full campaign and the control are much better than my first post.
Maybe a little thing about auto targeting that still doesn’t target the nearest target when room is full of enemies.
It’s like it auto target some thing and then it get locked to this target.

I mostly play on my TV after work, and without proper controller support, it’s just not a great experience. I totally get that it’s a small team and there’s a lot to juggle, but even older ARPGs from over a decade ago nailed this. It’s a bit frustrating, especially because I really love the game. Just hoping this can improve over time. 🙏

yeah controller still needs work
as i understand it, the devs are working on console ports. well if they dont nail the controls then console users will definitely complain/♥♥♥♥♥/moan and/or refund

Does anyone know, what controller setting must be done in the Ultimatums to proceed to the next wave with a controller? I tried every button on my XBox-Controller and also can't find a setting in the menu for it.

Hmm. I must have corrupted the settings a bit then. Could u post a picture of your controller settings, so i could adjust mine accordingly.
Nothing works for me at this point in time & Ultimatums are a choir when you have to switch between controller and keyboard after each round.

My settings are as following:
