I don't know exactly what you are talking about, but if your point is that there are third party options then I am sure you are correct
I have played a few ARPGs that had open options for autocasting / multiple skills on the same keybind, and it is just a wonderful QoL improvement that really helps the hands over long grinding sessions
I don't think a dev's stance should be "they can resolve that with third party software" lol just a suggestion though
I play Slormancer on a controller. I go to Controller Layout in Steam and set my controller to 'toggle' keys on, I use this on Slormancer to auto use Inner Fire buff over and over
Hero Siege also allows all of your skills to be bound to the same key. That is a good recommendation for the toggle keys though!
