The game though has a bunch of content worth giving a try even for it's current state. Although, if I'm honest, I'd suggest getting it later this year, after a few content updates.
It is worth getting if you want to be part of an EA.
If you want to play to a new game, you should wait (probably more next year than later this year if you wait until after a few content updates).
You can "see" everything under 20h.
But if you want to "try" everything, it takes a lot of time.
Some players have hundreds of hour on the game. At least one have more than a thousand hours.
But, again, it's an EA.
Take it if you want to be part of an EA, try things and provide feedbacks.
The game is quite early in the development and only a small fraction of the full content is already available (check the store page, all the info on that is present).
If you want to play a game, it's way too early.
I want to be honest with you : there is not a lot of content in the game right now EXCEPT if you really enjoy grinding (it will still be a grinding game in two years anyway) for theorycrafting different builds.
As said, some people have already dozens of hours doing just that, but it is not for everybody.
If you are more of the average gamer that mostly enjoy well rounded and fleshed out content, I would advise you to wait a bit more.
This is accurate unfortunately. When I picked up this game shortly after release steam reviews where 67% positive. This has gradually been falling and is at 50% positive and at risk of falling into a negative rating. The only constant message behind the negative reviews is down to the honest lack of content. It's more than people expect.
It doesn't help that updates are coming out at an absolutely glacial pace. Pass on the game for now and revisit it down the road. With that is there at the moment I'd say it's going to be a few years before there is a meaningful amount of content for people to sink their teeth into.
Can I say I love this honesty? It's great. Part of the appeal of the game is Grinding for insane ideas, and I love this.
really hopeing this game doesnt become sets/drop only items are be all end all and till you get them you are crap like chronicon was, or it at least was when I was playing it, really need to go back and play that game again.
This game, you have to farm just to achieve tiny incremental number differences in dps. At least, it was when I played it, I would suggest you to wait another year. It's nothing like Chronicon aside from being in the same genre.
Slormancer has still:
- 1 act (5 at release)
- 2 still WIP end-game modes (4-5 complete at release)
- max level 40 (100 at release)
- 32 weapons (120 at release) [not sure what ridiculous amount of weapon Abandon could be talking about]
- 20 legendaries (hundreds at release)
- 2 first tiers of the ancestral trees (7 tiers at release, with more excinting effects the further you progress in tiers)
There is no way Slormancer can have a good progression. Most content is missing and balance can't be properly done yet.
It's normal for where it is in its development.
It gives an idea of what it will be like at release but it's not the same as what it will be like at release. And it's definitely not in a state where we're supposed to play ad nauseam as we could with a complete game, progressing further and further to tackle unfinished content.
But music is done and is great.
your judgement call, for me I think it was 12$ for a game that has a great backbone to it for them to build on. I have already gotten my moneys worth before engine update hit.
