We've said it before but unfortunately, I'm the only developer and this is our first game so we'd rather focus on something we can handle and create a great single player game before thinking about multiplayer.
Multiplayer is not something you just add. It needs cool ideas and concept, decent latency, security against cheaters, among other things.
So that's not possible right now but it might be in the future.
I support this! I rather have for now a decent SP than a good SP and a less good MP.
But I want to say as well that a MP will be a nice feature
I am used to play with friends but game looks good.
Multiplayer is the last thing that matters.
True, the game does need to be designed with MP in mind from the start.
But it doesn't need all that stuff that modern games have put in (matchmaking, anti-cheat, etcetera). In-fact (IMO) it is better off without all the "Mac philosophy" stuff that takes control out of the hands of the player.
Player-run servers were always fine. Plus stuff like anti-cheat just gets in the way of mods (if that ever becomes a thing). People (if they are given leave to run their own servers) can kick cheaters at their own discretion.
Steam can also be leveraged for MP.
nobody wants a unfinished game with a MP feature.
Games like Wolcen/Pagan/Torchlight 3 all have focus on online/koop/mp
and we got a broken game experience and crap endgame/core features with many bugs
ofc this is just my opinion :)
Best thing to do would be p2p co-op. As Ashmore said you just don't push a button and the game is MP but if he's the only dev in the team something simpler would be way better in the long run, or just keeping it sp.
But with p2p co-op they won't have to really care about cheaters as well, host can just kick them or create a friend only game and invite just your friends. Especially if the game was meant mostly for SP I don't even see the reason caring about cheaters.
You're joking, right? These kinds of games NEED co-op to survive unless it's unique enough to get people's attention, but unfortunately this game looks pretty generic and more of the same only instead of playing with friends, you'll be alone playing. Gonna have to pass.
You said it yourself. Coop. Multiplayer and coop are a bit different.
Also you can't just say "I'm gonna implement coop" and press and button and BOOM you got a coop game.
It's better to get the game rolling as a single player experience first. Especially if the base of the game is built already on a single player platform.
It's ok though, enjoy poe with the good rng lul
"Lul" really, guy? You seem upset that I told the truth about this game.
