Can you save your game during battles?
Just one question to help me decide if I'm buying or not - can you save your game mid-battle? Or do you have to play a complete battle in one sitting? I have read that the missions can take quite a while, so being able to save during a battle is super important to me.

Thanks in advance!

Oh yes for sure! In fact I was surprised to hear Wargroove did not ship with this feature. It took a lot of work and planning for me to support full save-any-time in your turn.

TINY METAL has always supported full saving in the middle of a battle.

Yay! Yep, that really disappointed me about Wargroove . . . no saving mid-battle.

Thank you very much for the response! I will get this game on my Switch, I think. Are there any major differences between the Switch version and PC version? Will the Switch always get the same updates and patches as the PC version?

The differences are 1. Steam version should be higher resolution with graphical options, 2. Switch version's changes need to go through a check process which means updates take 2 to 4 weeks delayed versus the Steam version.

Two to four months?!? Yikes, I had no idea Nintendo's approval process took so long.

Maybe I don't want the Switch version, then. Hmm, tough decision.

Ooops! Meant to write weeks not months. Please do buy the Switch version if you like playing on the Switch, the time between updates is not super severe.

Oh, ok! Thank you for the clarification. That's a lot better!

I just read this review . . . https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/16/tiny-metal-full-metal-rumble-review-advance-wars-alternative-10338116/

. . . and they say there is no mid-mission save. From the review:

"Unfortunately though, Full Metal Rumble does make some of the same mistakes as WarGroove did at launch, in that there’s no kind of checkpoint or save system and it’s entirely possible to spend over an hour on a story mission and lose just at the end – forcing you to start from scratch again. It doesn’t get too silly with the size of the maps though and in that sense at least seems to understand Advance Wars better than its indie rival."

So, you say there is mid-battle save, but this review says there is not.

Please clarify.

There is 100% a in battle save system, I programmed it myself. I'll forward that link to PR so they can contact the reviewer.

There is an in-battle "save & quit" option, just like how there is an "end turn" option and a "find next action" option. You just have to hit the escape key to bring up the menu to find them.

Yep, I bought the Switch version last night and the save & quit during battles is right there! I have no idea what this reviewer was talking about, but they are spreading false information and should get their facts straight before writing a public review.

Great game, I'm really enjoying it on the Switch!
