Why English voices for German soldiers?
You're ruining a good deal of immersion in my opinion.

Hello, English is an universal language, so in the default version all important characters speak English. Fake accent sounds bad, so we decided not to go that way.
P.S.: In the German version, all characters speak German, just saying!

I am a French player who loves German =)
It is good to know that the language can be heard by changing the option!
But I'll have to work on my spelling! The best would be to have the French game with the German languages ^^
Thanks for your quick response, looking forward to playing the full version!

Is there a way to make just the voice acting to be native, with subs, to feel more authentic. Leaving the game systems, menu, and everything else english or whatever.

Same request for me!
Let the true voices available with subtitles please.

I agree with that, for players who love ww2, it's appreciated to hear the mother language of soldiers. Many games about this periode made this choice and i think it's the best one for immersion.

It might be because English is a well known universal language. And it's easier for most people to play a game where the voices are in English than to hear them in a language they don't even understand in the slightest.

To hear American English in particular is an immersion killer, and English in general. One of the main reasons i enjoy Partisans 1941 is that you have a choice to either listen to it in English, or listen to it in Russian with subtitles. I have a choice, not so in this game, apparently.

Again, another potentially good WWII game slightly ruined by English being the only language spoken by the protagonists, although all I hear from Ivan is Russian. It feels like they're not German Army defectors, but American OSS lost behind Soviet lines. But, on a positive note for the game, at least the Nazi symbols aren't censored.

Lastly, as others have said, the native language adds authenticity, and respect, as does the appropriate historical symbols.

THey would have no reason to censor anything. THis is made by the same people as Hatred. :P
Was Hatred censored? :P

Also, as other people have pointed out in other threads, you can get their voices to be in German by setting the language option to German.

I can understand the issue with immersion, but again, there is a valid reason for having people speak English. And that is to make it easier for people to play the game.
English is an extremely easy language to learn, and understand.

I know the world wasn't as connected almost a hundred years ago, heck, Rommel ended up taking an inspection tour of an English military base. :P
Boy that had to be awkward for everyone later.

But Ghandi wrote a letter to Adolf Hitler of all people, in English, a language both of them could read easily.
So, it wouldn't be completely out of left field for Germans to know English let alone speak it.

And honestly, if you're sneaking around in a Russian base. You probably wouldn't expect them to know English. :)

Also, keep in mind, this game was made by Polish developers. Getting English Voice acting probably was easier than the other languages. So, that's why they defaulted.
I don't know what language besides Polish is spoken in Poland, but I'm guessing English?

@davidb11 I understand what you're saying, and I agree to a point, without being argumentative.

You wouldn't hear English on the Eastern Front during WWII. Many Germans at the the time didn't speak English as they do today, and they wouldn't be speaking it even if they did at the time, it wasn't their native language.

I can understand budget constraints for voice acting, and the cost to have it translated into subtitles. But other games in this genre, like Partisans 1941 and Shadow Tactics, for example, have the choice of having it in the appropriate, and respectful, native language without having to completely change the UI.

If you're sneaking around in an Eastern Front trench occupied by Russians you're going to be expected to whisper in Deutsch, and hear the enemy in Russian, and perhaps attempt to translate a few signs that're in Cyrillic. When the heat is on, the native language is the language you naturally speak.

If Deutsch were the Lingua Franca of the world, and native English speakers mostly had to hear their video games/or movies in Deutsch, say something like Company of Heroes or Call of Duty, or Saving Private Ryan, just because a larger majority speak it, I'm positive many English speakers would find that tiresome, and perhaps, disrespectful.

However, this isn't a deal-breaker for myself, just one of the minor criticisms of the game.

Ah. I See. And I do understand completely.

It's a complicated mess in a way. :)

I admit I mislead you with my previous reply. Actually, there is only English voiceover, mostly due to technical reasons. Creating VO in each supported language is beyond our reach. Besides, our characters are often polyglots. Hence, Manfred (born in Free City of Danzig) can easily communicate with Lukas who speaks Polish and Lithuanian. Making each character speak their own language would only cause a mess.

Then its fine i guess, English va is very well done.

That's an honest, and legitimate, reply. Thank you folks for the clarification. :104::cta_emo1:

Ich würde ja sogar ein DLC bezahlen, welches die "deutsche" Sprachausgabe hinzufügt.
Wäre das nicht eine Möglichkeit für die Zukunft?
