If that's how you're feeling about the game, then either don't buy it or wait for the game to have a lot more content and to be on sale.
I mean, the question is WHY are they doing this. Why are they removing all the content and reselling the game? "Go away because you don't love it" isn't an answer for when a company is pulling something possibly shady....
lets see how far they take it
I personally don't see anything shady about it. They have been clear about what the game was from day 1. It's a reimagining of DD1 with elements from all the games from the franchise mixed with new content and features. The game is very early in development, there is a roadmap I suggest you take a look at to see what future content is planned so far, before DLC that will add even more content. If it's not to your liking vote with your wallet and don't buy it. I'm not telling you to go away like your suggesting, I was just pointing out that there's not much content currently, and if you're not willing to pay the full price of the game (that I agree is a bit to high), then wait for the game to have more content. And buy it at a lower price when it goes on sale.
It's a remake in a new engine. The game is redone from scratch, and they want to make it a true blend of DD1 and DD2 mechanics. Which is good for me, it's interesting and it brings in more support to the DD experience. As someone said, if a remake is not what you want, you can just avoid buying.
I mean, like you said... They said "No microtractions. It will have DLC like Dungeon Defenders"
Which is completely filled with Microtransaction (Labeled as DLC. But its microtransactions.)
I would hope the DLC is limited to expansions like Lost of shards of Eternia.. New story, maps, etc.
*Edit* I think I miss-remembered something, so I removed it. */Edit*
I'm kind of thinking what they'll do instead is... "Before you could buy a new character for $4, but we don't do microtransactions anymore... So now you can buy 4 new characters together for $20... See, not microtransaction. Totally different."
This hypothetical, is worse. Because it takes away options to buy what you want.
But if each included a new fleshed out story and maps, then it may be worth it. Can't say.
Other than that it feels more like a proper sequel than DD2 did at least but really it's too early to call. Right now it's maybe worth $10-$15 imo but depending on what maps they add and what heroes they add it could very well end up being worth $40.
Not quite sure why everyone who doesn't want to waste up to 5 and a half hours of their time on a single game that isn't finished when they can purchased 3+ finished games that are polished AND DD1 need to "get a job."
I guess maybe they should get a better job? Something that pays them $100 an hour or something so they can just not care about wasting $40 here and there?
"X-TREEM GREEN" needs to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ T-shirt for the game. They should 100% sell that.
Ah yes, Ignore that I have already bought the game, dumped damn near a thousand dollars into DD2 and countless hours into DD1 back in the day. I totally -can't afford the game I'm already playing.-
That's TOTALLY what my complaint was.
See, you get it. It's not a matter of like "WOW ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME".
It's like "Why? Why do this? Why not just fix what you started the first three times instead of just constantly getting a little bit into a game and then dropping it and restarting AGAIN."
I enjoy the game. Again, I enjoy the GAMEPLAY for what it is. I enjoy the community (The reasonable, decent parts of it anyways.) and there's nothing like finding that real good team where you just flow perfectly between defending lanes and repairs and crossing over lanes to cover each other and all that jazz.
It's just that I keep seeing the pattern of Game > It gets about half it's planned content > it drops off and they start all over with the promise of "GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS." The argument that it's early access is pretty half-assed when it's not the GAMEPLAY that's an issue. Because here's the thing, couldn't they just release these levels as DLC paid map packs for DD2? Was DD2 so broken that starting over was a better call than restarting FROM SCRATCH and re-using assets?
And yeah, I agree on the microtransaction thing. DLC's ARE Microtransactions. People can lie to themselves and say it's not, but in this day and age, DLC isn't like it used to be back in the days of expansion packs. I know we wish it was, but it's not. I mean, look at something like the original DD1. That didn't have "DLC". That had microtransactions that they just called DLC. 3 maps and 2 weapons for $5 isn't an "expansion pack". That's a microtransaction.
But like the person above brought up, the fact that they can just lump a bunch of crap you don't care about into packs doesn't inspire confidence. Also, that roadmap was depressing to look at.
They're literally adding a boss a month for 2 months, a stage a month for 2 months and some pets.
No new towers, no new weapons, no new classes, no real CONTENT. People keep preaching at me that "We have a roadmap of CONTENT" but I'm looking at the roadmap and instead of seeing "Content" i see "UH, BULLET POINTS. PEOPLE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOVE BULLET POINTS! TELL THEM ABOUT THE FACT WE'RE ADDING PETS **THREE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIMES**"
It looks like they're lost and don't know what "going back to their roots" means. Especially when their roots had more maps on launch and a better art style. They had THREE GAMES of content to draw from and they stepped down a peg with no real content planned.
I know people want to defend this game and more power to them. I'm already in too deep to refund and that's fine. I didn't plan to refund anyways. It's not so bad that I'm apalled. I just want people to question the developers on WHY they're trying to sell us less for more. If their company is in a bad spot and they need the help? Sure. Cool. I'm FINE with that. I can understand that.
I just want them to be upfront and honest about it. "Hey guys, we're making a new project cause we're broke and starving." sounds a lot better than "We have SO much content planned" when it's a year of 2 maps, 3 bosses and some pets.
