Second, We also have multiplayer.
This is what you get:
I can honestly say that Praetorians HD Remaster rendered the original game useless. After playing the Remaster, you can't go back to the original.
I am the modder who unlocked higher resolutions for original Praetorians and shared it with Mod Complex devs. I can safely say: this is not true HD! It is just higher resolution which allows you to see more of the map, nothing else. The actual graphical quality is still the same piece of crap.
And worse - the icons and panels do not scale to match the higher resolution. So you end up with this tinny icons when playing 1080p which are barely clickable.
It is just crap!
I have played Praetorians for several years in Game Ranger. I can safely state that 95% of the matches used only original maps and original races.
Do you know why? Mods created serious compatibility issues among players - especially Mod Complex whose Settings screen requires a Harvard degree to operate.
On top of that, all new races are poorly designed and have serious balance issues. Not to mention their questionable historical relevance to the timeline Praetorians fits in.
[GOD] Bridges Destroyed (8)
MOD Landscape Among Hills (2)
MOD Rio Arar (4)
MOD Battle For Supremacy (4)
Best maps from mods :)
And I played other maps VS CPU.
People not want that devs make mods, people wants that devs allowed them to make mods. Steam Workshop in game would be nice thing for those passionate people who wants to make something more than vanilla game.
Mod Imperial developers could easily adjust their maps to make them work with Unreal Engine. This is a trivial job to whoever has the skills on the field. So why don't they do it?
Dont agree that old game quality is a piece of crap.. Its still nice too..
Don't have problems with tinny iconc in classic game, and better, i think new ui takes mo screen space than it should (maybe it for console players, dont know how it looks on them).
Here some comparison betwen classic+higher resoliution and more camera distance and HD (max camera distance) :
