There's also to consider that Troy is a far more recent game and as such a direct comparison with RomeII/Attila might not really hold. Armies battle are great and play as smooth as possible can with battle maps far improved from the older titles.
It's more close to Three Kingdoms in a smaller package although it offers a lot with the DLCs - all in all I would recommend it if you like the historical title with Troy having some mythical components to spice up the gameplay while providing an historical mode as well of play.
Can be a bit pricey in comparison to a full Total War title so on a sale it's a great buy.
You will probably not get thousand of hours out of it because it's a Saga title with smaller scale. But nevertheless the game offers a lot of qualities - very beautiful campaign map, multiple ressource system, epic quest chains, different faction mechanics, great soundtrack and more...
Like OrangeBox said, it's maybe a bit overpriced yet but the next sale will surely come. :)
Mechanically, in battles and campaign, Troy is closest to Warhammer and Three Kingdoms.
Important points are, that Troy does not have inner-faction micromanagment with politics and characters (Attila), so it reminds a Shogun 2 a bit. And base game contains 2 modes - "Truth behind Myth" with single wntity heroes and units (like in Warhammer) and "Historical" with classic TW generals with bodyguards (Rome 2)
unfortunately, Troy has problems with campaign AI - it is extremly player, and constatly confederate in late game , I reccomend to play with this mod

the battles have a weird unit collison and missile trajectory

I would say, it depends, how much are You interested into setting of Trojan War, if not a lot , wait for a sale
For me it is same, every faction has 2 unique and interesting mechanics, but without unnessary micromanagment
What kind of argument is this?
The Epic giveaway (in 2020) is completely irrelevant now

It’s just my opinion. I don’t see how the price history of a game can be anything but relevant when considering a purchase.
In this case, I can’t face paying $40 or whatever it is when others got it for nothing, it just seems wrong. Personal viewpoint.
Big sale needed before I consider it.
It would be more relevant here to consider game's price history on STEAM
The Troy was free to claim for 1 day in August 2020 on EPIC store. And then it was 1 year exclusive on EPIC store.
This thing thing was special EPIC store bussines promotion.
For the people, who want Troy in February 2022, and especially on STEAM. this EPIC offer is irrelevant
I know. It’s just my personal view, just doesn’t sit right with me. Bit weird really as I’m usually happy to throw money away on all sorts of trash game. :)
I guess I’m just annoyed that I missed the original promotion.
The Ultimate Edition is brand new and will come back with the next sale. Troy feels much better now with all the good DLC's and patches than it felt on release day.
Yeah I’ve complained but I’ll probably end up taking a look when there’s a sale on the ultimate in the future. 😂
