Naval battle on land LMAO
OMG just how dumb can one be I can't believe it omg.

{LINK REMOVED}

"There is little documentation of Trojan naval warfare – but we know how important it is to our players. As a result, we’ve used Total War: WARHAMMER II – Curse of the Vampire Coast as our main inspiration for the naval combat in TROY. When two fleets clash at sea, they will disembark on a nearby island and settle the score in a land battle. As hinted above, armies dedicated in Poseidon’s favour will receive appropriate bonuses."

You were SUPPOSED to be INSPIRED by ROME2!!!!!!!!!

This is a mythical game anyway, in this we live in a post apocalypse. We didn't get better we got worse over time as we lost ancient knowledge.

They would maybe even have BETTER ships than the ones in Rome 2.

What a complete utter failure, A naval battle in which the troops go to some island.

CA you are a prime example of how to take a game series that is pure gold and then turn it into *****. You are the anti-alchemist.

Naval invasion is not the same thing as naval combat. As far as I'm aware there's no record of Achaeans ever participating in sea battles.

"No sources" lol

Truth is simple - current creators of Total War Saga games are non-competent gamedevelopers who hide own non-competence behind "no historical sources" lie

Does no one use his brain anymore?

I said INSPIRED

I didn't say they should just rip and copy paste it.

Also why do they not tell which game they used to make this? I guess it was Warhammer 2 or TK my gawd did these software engineers really fail that hard at life that they'd rather break support in the engine for naval instead of fixing it??????

You could develop a second game within a second exe that starts within the game and have it happen there. Medal of Honor did it where the singleplayer was frostbyte and the multiplayer unreal engine.

But you... you just gave us a game dominated by naval warfare with all those greek islands and then took it out.

Lets forget about odysseus sailing around. Lets forget about that other 300 movie on the water.

THEY ALL SAILED TO THAT PLACE

It was AN AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT

D-Day style.

300 movie was athenian vs persia in about 450 bc around the same time as the battle of thermopaly (forgive my spelling)

as for odysseus u are correct but its all mythology which is why i think they went a lil bit on the fantasy side
which doesnt excuse naval warfare not being in game

If I would get a $ every time I've seen someone say this bullsh:2018bestaward:t.
It was bad because how buggy was it, on copy/pasted engine from 2006 which was made only as a placeholder for Empire at the first place, jet it made it into the final product and we are still stuck with that crap. Navar battles were always frustrating because of glitchfest CA wasn't able to make work properly, so they scrapped it completely.

Rome 2 is 6 years old by now. One would think, they would be able to make something like Empire at war or Gothic armada or Gratuitious space battles but nope lets just uninstall our brain and let them sally on an island because armies do that they agree on an island in a game with mythical monsters and the kraken and things.

heck even the space combat of Endless Space would suffice.
Xenos Sep 19, 2019 @ 11:01am
CA doesn't do naval combat anymore because in-game metrics showed very few people actually played naval battles instead of autoresolving them, IIRC.

well ofc when they are garbage.

they are beloved in empire since thats gun based and they never bothered to make it good for melee based.

Nobody played the naval battles in Wargame Red Dragon either because it was garbage from an idiotic developer.

Now lets look at Empire at War where it is magnificient and we see most players love and play it in fact the space battle totally dominates over the land battles.

How does this sell if nobody likes it??????

Graeco-persian wars happened 600 years after the Trojan war, you know.

How about you install your brain next time you read the blog.

ITS MYTHICAL NOT HISTORICAL

besides even in history the ancient ones were MORE ADVANCED than before. Especially the egyptians became DUMBER and LESS CAPABLE.

The same happened in the dark times. War destroyed knowledge. They lost it.

The warships of the troyans were most likely far more advanced than the roman and greek ones for centuries.

The ancient egyptians sailed to north america and brought back plants and animals and insects from there, only the vikings were able to pull that one off again.

Oh, I see, the ancient were more advanced... I'm going to back down very slowly, just keep calm.
