Please help me! Product type not valid. This save data cannot be used.

Product type not valid. This save data cannot be used. I keep the game installed on an external hard drive. I powered down my pc. I then later took out the usb for my external hard drive from my pc. So I could put in a flash drive to transfer files unrelated to the game. When I was finished I put the usb cable for my external hard drive back into my pc. the game would not start. so I uninstalled the game then reinstalled the game. now the game would start but this now happens Product type not valid. This save data cannot be used. So I verified the game files. This worked the first time I did it before but not this time. This time it brought the game back to version 1.04. I can start the game but I cannot use my saves. So I have updated the game to the current update of 1.041 but I still get Product type not valid. This save data cannot be used. So where I am now currently at I can start the game but I cannot use my save data. Can anyone please help me find a way for me to be able to use my save data again? I know Kiss released instructions for how to solve the problem when it was first introduced with the steam update but I cannot find them. So if anyone could provide a link of the statement from Kiss with the instructions for how to solve this problem? I would very much appreciate it.


I should also mention when I verified the game files this happened. 572 files failed to validate and will be reacquired.


Just so people know. I do not use mods.
I bought the game on steam. I bought the AO patch on S-Court. Along with GP01, GP02, and other dlc.




Ok, so I have found The instructions from Kiss that I was talking about. I followed the instructions. The current patch 104.1 will not install. It states This patch is not compatiable to the main unit you have.

I am currently on patch 108.1. which allowed me to use my saves. I still get errors so it does not work completely. Also alot of my dlc is missing. like my song and dance, costumes, and my Yotogi dlc. So now I need help finding a way to install the current patch 104.1


Steam states the size of local files for the game are 11.83GB.

My pc states the size of the games files are 42.5GB.

Reinstall the Adult patch & THEN update to the latest version. The update won't install right now because it's reading that you have the All Ages version

Otherwise... back up your Save data folder & reinstall everything from scratch. In the future don't use Steam to verify to game

Just re-read what you said. You do know 108.1 is the current patch for the Adult version right? 104.1 is the latest All Ages patch.

Do NOT use them together

Oh! Thank you so much! I must have confused the two patches. This whole process is not something I am familiar with. I will redownload all of my dlc. Then things should be in working order again.

Oh! Thank you so much! I must have confused the two patches. This whole process is not something I am familiar with. I will redownload all of my dlc. Then things should be in working order again.

Little tip. Once you install the Adult patch & all DLC/Mods it's best to back up the install in case the game decides to implode in the future (it will)
