While I'm all up for them wanting a bigger slice of the pie for their products, I do still hope they opt for a Steam DLC system as well as offering the DLC on their site. I feel if they only offer DLC on their site, the reviews will turn bad, fast. They're already treading on thin ice with the whole off-site paid patch which adds almost 9GB worth of content back into the game.
Well, that essentially settles the matter. I mean, it makes sense from a business perspective, but it is not the sort of sense that I like.
I mean, Kiss's Game and Custom Maid serie is pretty well know..... Among a minority of Otaku/Weebs.... But that doesn't amount much.
So, releasing it on Steam make the game way more visible to more people....
what KISS do is actually the best solution if you don't want censored content or missing DLCs because of steam vague policy and randomness.
Everyone knows the answer captain obvious. It was directed at the devs who want to leech on the popularity and convenience of other platforms like Steam. It no more than a bait and switch tactic.
If that percentage cut is hurting them so much they can think of increasing the price providing the same convenience for people who want to buy from one place.
Those who buy games from Steam expect to pay using Steam wallet.
The funny thing is that in their pursuit of getting a bigger cut, they are potentially turning a lot of people back into piracy, simply because their own platform doesn't offer enough privacy.
On STEAM, whatever you pay is listed as purchase made to Steam.
Other competent website that sells risque content such as this simply employs a third party, payment deferrence company to protect their customers' privacy.
You'd think that for a company that seeks to milk their fanbase as much as possible with all these very expensive DLCs that can push your spending for ONE game to the tune of thousands of dollars, they'd be smart enough not to leave any obvious trace of the purchases on the credit card or bank statement. Instead, Googling "SCOURT TOSHIMA JP" which is what will appear on your account statement will lead you directly to the site.
Worthless, stupid, ignorant, excessively greedy ♥♥♥♥♥ managing KISS. They deserve getting their games pirated by their fanbase all these years; this was supposed to be their big chance at breaking mainstream and they ruin it.
Lot of 18+ game do this. have not seen any problem yet
So, Time for a little cultural lecture. : Kiss is a Japanese Eroge Dev and thus, work like one.
Meaning : releasing the game (and their Add-on) on multiple platform (DMM, DlSite pro for , each whith different "exclusive" DLC, then releasing DLC and content only available on their own in house Store/Website afterwards.
A lot of Japanese Eroge Maker do this (if not all even), and especially those making 3D Eroge (which aren't a lot.... i mean.... in Fact they are mainly 3.... And, with Kiss, now they are all on steam)
And if you wonder why..... Well, the Eroge Market Buble Burst around 2009/2010.... When before those years big Eroge could sell up to 200k copy in a short time.... now, for the same cost they sell for around 50k copy in the same amount of time.... Even, some Dev make deal between themself like "Can you release your game this day instead of this one, because it will confligt with ours and we'll both loose sales".
So, for getting the max ofmoney possible to survive, ofc they try to avoid third party store the maximum they could..... A lot of them don't have a lot of money and are pretty much in the red
In, fact, in the last 10 years, dozen and dozen of Eroge Maker filled up bankrupcy because the market in JP is oversaturated.... And since it's they primary and for 95% of them their only market
So, can you blame them to work the same way on the west Market, where Eroge are pretty much Niche Game with a very small community
https://www.oneangrygamer.net/steam-waifu-holocaust-2-0-banned-game-list/
if you insist that everything must be on steam then the devs will have to resort on making eroge with only vanilla content (and there is still no guarantee that it won't get banned). That's not good.
This isn't a new game buddy. The game probably made back 10 folds its development cost and some on initial release... and then trying to come back with a localized corny machine-translated game just to sell on their corny website... NO, just NO...
